Hello from the Outlook team! We’re hoping you all can help us out in identifying this problem. Please share the detailed steps taken in order for this to not work (Folder origin? Keyboard?).
Thank you!Jeff commented
I've tried in OWA on both Chrome on Mac and Edge on Windows 10. In the old version if I hold Shift while clicking the delete button it prompts "Do you want to permanently delete". But this is only for the Delete button on the bar at the top of the screen. If I select multiple items, then hold Shift while clicking the Delete button in the right pane it just puts them in the deleted items (and I can click Undo and bring them back).
When I turn on the new version, hold down Shift and click Delete on the bar at the top of the screen it just moves then and I can Undo it.
I've tested this both in the Inbox folder and a sub folder. The keyboard I use in US International with Language: English (Australia).
Out of interest I didn't know you could hold shift and hit the Delete button on the keyboard. I can confirm that typing Shift+Delete works in both the old version and new version of OWA.Jeff commented
In the old version I could hold the shift key when I clicked the delete button on the menu and permanently delete an email. If an email is obviously spam I don't want it in my deleted items where I might click on it again later. Especially as the images sometimes load (giving away your valid email address) when you view an email in the deleted folder (whereas in the inbox it would have blocked the images and you'd have to click a button to show them).
