It seems like to me that Outlook 2016 for Mac just needs to be smarter at conversation threads. Once in a while I will see a reply come in with exactly the same subject as several emails I have in a conversation but it does not get grouped with that conversation. If I log into Outlook Web App on Office 365 (or on Office 2016 for Windows) it does include that new reply and group it with the other messages in the conversation. So it definitely seems like it needs improved on the Mac. Maybe when the Conversation ID is not present in a message it should fall back and evaluate based on the Subject. I know this can cause issues of grouping emails with the same Subject but aren't part of the thread so maybe you could refine the algorithm so that if an email with a missing Conversation ID is group with the nearest conversation based on time and if it is more than a month or two outside of any conversation then it doesn't get added to any conversation thread (or it starts a new one).

To the Mac Outlook Team: When you say Mac Outlook Supports server side distribution lists for Exchange accounts I see no way of doing this in Outlook 2016. Are you referring to the fact that Mac Outlook can READ server side distribution lists published in the Global Address List?

I did not post the original request, but I did vote it up. In my mind this is request is for what used to be called Personal Distribution Lists back in the days of Outlook 2001 (for Mac OS 9) which were stored on the Exchange Server. This is probably what is now called Contact Groups. However, Contact Groups on Outlook for the Mac can only be saved in the On My Computer folder whereas Contact Groups on Windows are saved server side.

Being a long time Mac IT Admin in an Exchange environment this was a HUGE frustration of mine when these were taken away because many users had Personal Distribution Lists that had hundreds of members. When we moved to Entourage, after Exchange support was added, we had to manually convert these to the local Contact Groups and then tell our users these are no longer stored on the Exchange server so if their database gets corrupted and they lose these we can't help you. Very frustrating experience! I had expressed my concerns with this many times over the years via Microsoft's Mac Entourage feedback website, during beta testing, via Q&A for webinars showing every new version of Entourage and Outlook for the last 15 years, and via our Microsoft Premiere support contract and it always fell on deaf ears.
