This ought to be a tiny amount of code to write and test. It is important to see these headers for security reasons -- due to widespread forgery of email values...

Most of my email correspondents do NOT use Outlook and instead have various email clients, all of which mark quoted text using the '>' quoting convention.

This interoperability problem makes me want to use email on anything other than Outlook.

This is needed to fix an existing widespread operational security problem with forged email addresses.

If CalDAV were supported, then one could subscribe to locally-applicable online public holiday calendars. It might be a simpler solution than to add support for N countries different public holidays into Outlook.

Support for mbox import/export really is a very basic feature present in virtually every other email client out there, including the free email clients.

The right specification to use is RFC-4155 (particularly Appendix A) as updated by RFC-5322, RFC-6530, RFC-6532, and RFC-6854. Microsoft employees participated in the IETF standards work which resulted in these RFCs, by the way.

I think this is an awful idea.

Lack of CalDAV makes it very difficult to use Microsoft Outlook in organizations with a company-wide CalDAV server for calendaring.

This is an openly published standard, and it isn't hard to implement. Odd that Outlook lacks support for major corporate features.

It seems odd that Microsoft would make it hard to create a Windows-compatible PST file on Outlook for Mac. Supporting PST export/import would help keep users inside the Microsoft ecosystem.

The biggest barrior to switching to Outlook on a Mac is the inability to easily import contacts from vCard (*.vcf) format (per the Internet Standard in RFC-6350), to import calendars from iCalendar (*.ics) format (per the Internet Standards in RFC-5545 & RFC-7986), and email from Apple Mail.

Very odd that Microsoft would make it hard to switch to use the Microsoft application, especially for the 1st two items above which are both openly specified in Internet Standards-track RFCs. Hint, Microsoft employees were in the room for creation of those standards.
