This is another example of a search frustration which I commented on in a different thread -- copied here for reference to the people in this thread.

reviewing all the search comments, I see a mishmash of complaints, including many cases where users do not understand how to use the advanced search options.

However -- This is obscuring what I think is a core problem with the new search function -- it is prioritizing results improperly. I can perform a search on an EXACT MATCH phrase that is highly unusual -- and the email which has this exact phrase will be buried many pages below more recent emails with PARTIAL MATCHES on common words.

For example, I might search on "CLEVELAND MEDIUM PLAN" -- a phrase that only exists in one, older (months or years old) email and instead of seeing that email at the top of my search results, I will see dozens or even hundreds of emails that are only a match on "PLAN" or "MEDIUM" or maybe "MEDIUM PLAN"", that are typically more recent. I didn't want recent emails that contained the word "PLAN" -- I wanted that specific old email that said "CLEVELAND MEDIUM PLAN".

This is search 101 -- exact matches on low frequency phrases should always be prioritized over common partial matches -- no matter how old or new each document (email) is.

People are searching and not getting the results they expect. Because most people don't know about things like Inverse Document Frequencies, they can't explain what is wrong, they just are frustrated by it... and so you get a mishmash of unclear feedback.

TL,DR; Respectfully: you have a core problem with how your search is prioritizing results. Until this fixed, you are going to continue to get vague, frustrated but unfocused feedback on the search functionality.

Please fix this. It is a huge pain point.

Please note that there are a number of requests for something similar, spread across different ideas. All relate to the auto bullet / auto numbering feature. It would be great if we could just turn this off -- incredibly annoying.
