Yes, yes, yes, PLEASE! This is honestly the biggest blunder in all of Outlook. Ending or rescheduling a series DOES NOT ERASE HISTORY. Even the supposed workaround 'solution' to change the end date and then create a new series is inadequate because doing so actually rebuilds the series, erasing all notes, attachments, and occasional schedule exceptions or adjustments. Ever had to cancel an instance of a standing Monday meeting because the Fourth of July holiday fell on a Monday that year? Too bad. Change the end date and suddenly it seems that you actually did have a meeting that day. Utterly ridiculous and unacceptable.
