Another use case is if you auto-forward all your email (or forward with a rule). Emails detected as SPAM (usually falsely) are NOT auto-forwarded. It leads to a whole load of extra problems:

    a. Have to maintain Safe Sender lists on both accounts
    b. Have to keep checking the Junk Email folder on their secondary account (outlook.com) for emails that haven’t been forwarded (especially when false positives are so numerous that practically any email not in the outlook.com Safe Sender list is marked as SPAM
    c. Have to manually forward emails falsely marked as SPAM to their primary account (Office 365 in my case).
    d. Have to deal with conversation views/threaded views in the primary account that no longer work because the original sender is lost when emails are manually forwarded.

This is ridiculous MS have been "actively working on a fix" for this for over a year with the Outlook client. The workaround for that is useless for those people who need/want to have a primary alias on their MS account that is something other than their outlook.com-provide email address.

Some of these people will also be extremely P'ed off to find this is a one way change that, following restrictions imposed around a year ago now, can no longer be reversed if the domain for the primary alias is also associated with a MS Organisational Account. So for those people the work-around cannot be undone.
