For anyone who likes using subfolders to organize mail, there is a flaw in how to manage alerts for new mail, particularly when using a mobile device. Currently if a rule is configured to move mail to a different folder, no 'new mail' alert ever occurs because the email never technically hits the inbox. You could add alerts to subfolders, but I'm not sure if non-MS devices would handle this well.

Ideally a move to another folder rule can be configured only after an email has been read. Preferably this rule could be configured to run after X many minutes of it being read, which provides time for the user to read/re-read from the inbox. For example, move the email as per the rules 10 minutes after it has been read.

Excellent idea! I just disabled my rules that move mail to various subfolders simply because I don't get notifications in Outlook or on my phone. I wonder if such a notification on new mail to a subfolder would be sent to a non-windows phone?

The alternative to this is to have a rule that moves the email to a designated folder X minutes after it's been read. The delay gives the user some time to decide if they want to mark as unread or re-read and also prevents phones/tablets from returning a 'cannot find this message' error while reading it.

Great that someone else thought to ask for this! Every time i get a new computer or version of Outlook I have to re-set the settings of every folder to turn off the reading pane. There should be a global setting that disables/enables reading panes for all folders.

All day events should never have a time associated with them! Changing default time zone, changing the time on the computer, or as the OP stated participants from other time zones has always been a disaster in Outlook.

Has anyone ever seen what happens to your recurring all day events when you change default time zones? You may as well start your calendar over!

An all day event happens on a day, not a specific range of time. Stop the insanity of associating times with all day events!

This is likely more a time zone issue or changing the time on the clock. The real issue is 'All-Day Events' should have no time associated with them. They are all-day events no matter what time zone.

Incomprehensible why they removed level of detail functionality for the month view calendar! The Outlook calendar month view is the standard for most office people I have seen and MS made millions of people less efficient by taking away level of detail. Makes me wonder how the decision makers organize themselves! Maybe they are using another developer's software for a calendar. This should have been brought back in an update already!
