Yes it makes it very easy to delete calendar appointments sent by a 3rd party and lose all details. It's a very inconsistent UX compared to when so many other items in Outlook have Save in the same location so your fingers get trained that the upper left is for Save&Close.

Why can't it try a few times over a few days, weeks before expiring to warn of expiration, rather than checking continually and throwing up messages on the screen?

It was great when you could set a rule to empty all deleted items older than a certain number of days on exit. That way you have a little buffer in case something was accidentally deleted but was also automated enough to migrate unwanted files into deletion too, without the need to think about it really.

PLEASE bring this back. In Outlook 2007 on PC you could click on a day and it would be visibly highlighted (and also on Outlook 2011 for Mac); but on 2007 you could use your arrows to scroll ahead say 6 weeks if you wanted to easily schedule an event in 6 weeks ... just 6 arrow clicks! This made my life so much easier using calendar. Now there is no highlighting of the current day so you can't really see where you are and the arrow scrolling does not work clearly, you just don't know where you are. But yes, the mouse wheel was excellent to scroll through the months or years easily. Now, if I want to go back 10 years or 15 years to find something I need to sit and click 15 x 12 = 180 times to get there!! It's such a terrible user experience, sorry, and it's hard when a feature is in place and is then taken away.
