I tried to set up "rules" in all Outlook settings (against vertical-aff and others) and found the rules just did not work; had no apparent effect. Microsoft's "Rules not working?" report just gives me text attachments with hundreds of lines of incomprehensible text. I had entered "vertical-aff" in "Senders address includes" in Step 2. Then I noticed that right at the bottom of the Step 2 conditions drop-down lurks "Apply to all messages", which I've now made my first condition. "vertical-aff" in sender's address is now "Add another condition", with "Delete" in Step 3.
NO MORE MESSAGES FROM vertical-aff !!!
Another example of Microsoft's "You're in a helicopter" thinking being different from that of ordinary mortals?

I "block" all spam but still it floods through. I have two "rules" deleting vertical-aff - and still it arrives. I have some "sympathy" for Outlook which we expect to let through a tiny amount of valid email buried in an avalanche of garbage. It grieves me to think of our marvellous high-tech world so abused. Perhaps the answer in everyone's interest is to delete my naive 20 year old hotmail account and start with a virgin clean slate. In the meantime I've deleted all my blocked addresses, domains and rules and will try unsubscribing from all that don't appear to be malicious spammers and a few new blocks and rules against the real bad boys in the hopes they might work. Wish me luck!
