Left Sidebar configurable smaller width
On New Outlook view, the Left Sidebar width has a minimum size that enables to view the full name of all the elements. That's using too many horizontal space, only for one or two folders that I already know.
I'd like to be able to reduce the Left Sidebar width in order to not "loosing" too many horizontal space.
I know I can fully colapse it, but then I cannot see the folders...

In the windows version of Outlook it is possible to make a specific folder a favourite, and this appears in the collapsed side bar. Perhaps this is a way to make the collapsed side bar more useful.

I use a second monitor Vertically. This is where I put Outlook.
The width here is at a premium. The left Panel could shrink as much as 40px without any interference of the Unread emails/STAR touching the Conversation History Folder.
For even more room, change the title to Conversations and you have more than 80px before overlapping creating a "..." if that's a concern. There there is extra space to the left of the subfolders. This indent is a lot. If that could dynamically shrink you could gain 10-20 more px without losing the design esthetic of the NEW OUTLOOK.
Of the 270px it is currently, removing up to 100px would make a drastic improvement.
thanks

Completely agree with all these comments. Just switched to new look now and the excessive horizontal space in the LEFT SIDEBAR and RIGHT TASK PANE are very very annoying - this reduces the message reading pane to a very narrow window. The lack of further reducing the widths of these is too inhibitive for me to use this without frustration. Sadly I'm switching back to the older version until resolved.

yes, we're not using 16" or even bigger screen. it is painful for us not to able to adjust the width to optimise the view compare to previous version outlook. please look onto this.

This is a big issue for me, especially on a laptop screen. I need to see the folder structure (so collapsing git also is not an option).
Please allow us to reduce the width, as in previous Outlook version!

I am begging for this! It is such a waste of square footage on a screen!

100% agree, this is a big whiff from Microsoft.

I agree: the UI elements in the new Outlook are too big in general, and there's lots of wasted space. We should be able to still reduce the width of the Sidebar without having to collapse it, to get more screen real estate while still seeing folders. Just like we can do now with the "old" Outlook for Mac.
