Bring back Advanced Search options (+ related Search issues)
My inbox is crazy, so the search bar is a large part of my process. Since upgrading to the new Outlook 16.41 for Mac, we've lost some major Search functionalities, including:
Relevance: When using multiple search terms to find a specific conversation, Outlook is now searching using "OR" logic instead of "AND" logic. Very frustrating when completely irrelevant results are appearing because they contain 1 of the 3 search terms/keywords (instead of all 3).
"Contains"/"Does Not Contain" functionality: So helpful when looking for emails from a specific organization (ex: "From" contains "@examplecompany.com") or specific sub-sets of emails (ex: "Subject" does not contain "FW"). Devastated that this is gone!
Filtering by attachment size: less vital than the other two above, but this was a great way to reduce my email server weight (searching for attachments "greater than" "10MB" to remove).
SIDE-NOTE: I agree with one of the other posts on here that while I get the intention, the "Top Results" in searches actually create more confusion and clutter for me.
Searching contacts doesnt even seem to work properly - when i search for part of an email address the item doesn't appear in the search results. When i click on a contact, it often doesnt display the Edit/Delete buttons at the bottom of the screen; also i want to be able to see AND search the Notes for a contact - search doesn't work on that field and worse still, I used to be able to view Notes for a contact (where all the important info is kept on someone!) now i have to click Edit, scroll through the contact information and then scroll up & down an INCREDIBLY small Notes field...all of this means that the current Search function is next to useless

Need to provide better documentation on search criteria as logic created from natural language is more complex than documented. So tell us what we can do and it may overcome some of the objections here. Also, add back created as search criteria so we don't have to include sent or received logic when searching by date

Exclusion/Inclusion by folders is an essential part of creating usable search results. Please bring it back!
4. Old Outlook allowed excluding folders from search. So you could search All Mailboxes and exclude Deleted Items, for example. Please bring this functionality to the new Outlook. Even the web interface has an option to exclude Deleted Items from search results...

Additionally, I like to select multiple Categories in the search drop down, or to choose "Has a category" which excludes search results if the category is null.
