Compact view that shows more emails without scrolling when preview is on the right
The email summary on the left has a lot of visual noise and white space around email entries. As a user, I want to be able to scan my inbox, but with all the UI chrome I can only see 10-12 entries without scrolling. This is despite 'small' font selected.
Outlook should have a compact view (even when preview on the right is open) that allows 3-4x more emails without scrolling. The one line summary is nice ,but should be optional. the whitespace above and below the ruled line should be minimized and eliminated.
The compact layout should also adjust to the size of the pane. If the size of the list pane is large enough it should be similar to the 'hidden preview' layout.
View more emails in your message list. Two new settings are now available in the latest Insider Fast update (16.36.20032300): the first is “Display Density” which offers “Compact” and “Medium” and the second is “Show Message Previews” which toggles the beginning of the message body in the list. Both options are in the top View menu and Reading settings in Outlook preferences. Give these options a try. Thanks.
I agree with Jan Lunddal Larsen. New features are good but there's still room for improvement to increase overlook when reading pane is to the right of the inbox. Please add feature to keep info about sender and subject on the same line when reading pane is to the right of inbox, similar to how messages are listed when reading pane is below inbox or when reading pane is turned off altogether. This would improve overlook of email list significantly, thank you.

While the new options are great, the font size in the message list is still too big and seems out of place compared to the rest of the interface.
Please allows us to make it smaller - the same size as in the old Outlook would be fine
Hi Team, can you add option to hide email preview lines at all, so to leave only sender and subject? It was already in outlook so you can select if you want preview or not. Please, put it into your backlog as it is important feature.

In other mail applications like Gmail, you can adjust the spacing between lines when looking at an inbox. Some have suggested reducing space between lines, but I would advocate to be able to either increase or decrease the spacing. I, for one, prefer a bit more space between lines.

I would like to be able to adjust the font size of the email list without changing the whole interface.
Right now it's way too big.

Not having the ability to see more than ~20 emails in my inbox due to the 1-line preview is a showstopper for me.
Mac OS mail has this feature/setting in the view settings (Settings>Viewing>”List Preview”, which I always have set to ‘none’).
Current Outlook view seems to default to ‘1 line’ and have no other option)

Please add an option for single line view with the reading pane on the right (available in Outlook on Windows) to allow for simpler review of large numbers of messages.

In the previous version you could choose to turn off message preview (i.e. the first line of the email) in your message listing. Would be great to be able to do this in the new version.
Would be amazing if one could adjust the Display Density Settings from DEFAULT, to COMFORTABLE, or COMPACT. Similar to how it is possible in Gmail:

I would like to *NOT* see the reading preview under the subject line.

In version 19111100 the ability to disable message preview in the message list disappeared, and now message preview is forced on with no way to disable it. Please bring this setting back ASAP so that it can be disabled!
Need to be able to select a compact list view of emails in for the inbox whilst the reading pane is on the right side. This is essential for creating a good overlook of inflow of emails. The most annoying part of this is that the feature is available when reading pane is below the inbox. But I don't want the reading pane below the inbox because it eats up too much screen space.

The new Outlook's Message List pane uses slightly larger fonts and much larger top/bottom margins compared with the old Outlook, even when using the setting for the smallest font size. If I want wide spacing I can just use Gmail-- if I am using a local native app I expect it to make more productive use of space.
Please restore the font sizes and spacing of the old version (or ideally make it even more compact than the old one!) because then I'll be able to see 1-2 more messages without scrolling.
It's possible that the extra spacing is due to message preview (that can't be disabled yet in the new version) so if the new Outlook will have a space-efficient mode when message preview is turned off, that's great.
There's no longer an option to turn off showing the first few lines of an email in your inbox(es). I don't want to "read" the email before reading the email. Plus, I share my screen a lot and don't want viewers to see content of email.
