  1. Keep selected message in view after closing search window

Keep the message selected when using the search function in view after closing/clearing the search bar.
Currently when the search bar is cleared no message is selected and the view is returned to the top of the list.
I prefer that when search is cleared that the selected message be displayed in the preview window and shown in it's position in the inbox list.

  2. Automatic formatting: highlight emails sent only to me

Option exists in windows under view - custom view - automatic formatting.

Extremely useful for high volume accounts.

  3. 1. When you navigate out of the Inbox, say to Calendar, and go back to Inbox, it doesn’t go back

    1. When you navigate out of the Inbox, say to Calendar, and go back to Inbox, it doesn’t go back to the last email you had selected, 2. Grouping/highlighting of emails within the same thread and 3. Full colour of an email when categorized, like it was in Outlook for Mac 2011.

  4. Attach files from Cloud as links

Please add the feature like on Windows/web where attachments can be added as links from the Cloud. I have version 16.34 and am not presented with this option on the Mac. Like this: https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/attach-files-in-outlook-com-8d7c1ea7-4e5f-44ce-bb6e-c5fcc92ba9ab

  5. Ability to rename inbox folders. (Possibly a bug).

I suggest you check into when creating an inbox folder that you can rename the folder. This maybe a bug.

  6. Identify the recipient's name directly in the email - just like in Exchange

In the reply option of the email, in the "to" text description, the full name and email address should be shown, not twice the email address. In the old Outlook, if you had the recipients in the contact section, you'd see the name and the email address.

  7. If a draft is created, later reopened and sent, the original draft remains in the draft folder. One then has to confirm they actually sent.

Email automatically enters draft folder when clicking away from email window (already in place). When you return to that open email window without navigating to it via the drafts folder and hit send, the email in the draft folder should disappear. This avoids one second guessing whether the email was actually sent. I have a number of emails in my draft folder that I have actually sent (verified by checking in sent folder).

  8. I suggest you include functionality to 'save sent email to specific folder'

The Windows version of Outlook allows me to select which folder I want to save an email in before sending. This significantly improves organisation and reduces time spent filing emails.

  9. Allow draft message deletion through key combination

When writing a draft message, allow quick deletion of the draft with a keystroke, such as Cmd-Delete, instead of requiring the mouse to be used on a button at the bottom of the screen. Historically, it opened a new window which I could just close with Cmd-W.

  10. Remove Delete, Archive, Flag from the center of the list of emails

Having Delete, Archive, and Flag right in the middle between name and subject is a really bad place. Move it all the way to the left, right, or remove all together. Whenever i click an email im accidentally clicking delete.

  11. View & edit native Office files inside of Outlook

When using Outlook on the web you can click on an attachment such as Excel, Word, PDF, or an image and the file is displayed in a viewer next to the email message. It would be nice if this was done in Outlook for Mac as well. If I click on an attchement such as Excel it would open the Excel file in a native viewer in Outlook with the message beside it.

Using the same functions that are in the web version of Outlook.

  12. Prevent repetitive login popup to appear for unsynced accounts

I have two deactivated accounts, for which I still want to store mails and be able to access them anytime.

Though, every 5mn, the New Outlook prompts for password. It should be possible to deactivate that. Or at least, let it appear just once at application startup, as in the old Outlook.

  15. Handoff Support

Handoff support with other Apple devices. Outlook for iOS and Outlook for Apple Watch. Sometimes I see a mail notification and go directly this mail on my Mac.

  16. get the display proportions correct

Font sizing and UI sizing is all over the place. Somone needs to spend some time on getting the look proportionally correct. Right sidebar is huge compared to the other UI elements.

  19. Detect Dates and Events in Email Text

Automatically detects listed dates and times in emails allowing single click calendar or meeting creation. Similar to Apple Mail's data detectors.

  20. Integrate chat and video with all desktop versions of Office. Both Windows and Mac.

It would be great if you were able to start a chat from a shared desktop file, powerpoint, excel, etc.. I know you can do it online, but the online versions are not great. It would also be great to be able to start a chat with an email you just received or kick off a video call in Microsoft Teams directly from an email or an application.

It would also be great if you could use ML or AI to help people determine what types of emails make better texts. Email is such pain to work with. Do you…
