conversation settings sent
Please give us the option to turn off seeing Sent emails in conversation view. I can't stand seeing sent emails in a conversation view. If I want to find a sent email, I'll go to Sent Folder.

Return Organize by Categories and Collapse/Expand All by Sorting method
I really do like the new design, but there are 2 fundamental features that made Outlook stand above all other email client and really make impractical to use the new Outlook at work for e-mail:
I would like to request that these 2 features ( or similar new version) be added:
- The Ability to organize by Categories
- Able to Collapse/expand all e-mails by the selected sorting method
The use of categories became irrelevant if you cannot organize or search emails by them, and if hundreds of e-mails every day, it is a nightmare not been able to collapse…220 votes -

Make it possible to create local folders "on my computer" to save email to. Previous versions allowed this.
In the current version of Outlook for Mac, users can create folders "on my computer" to organise/drag/drop specific emails into. This functionality is not currently working in New Outlook for Mac.

Sync limit
The new Outlook client seems to be limited to syncing six months of email. I can't find the sync limit anywhere. I keep switching between the two Outlook clients depending what I am searching for.

Color Coding email accounts
Like Spark Mail, or Canary Mail, the ability to color code email accounts. Would appear color coded in left nav bar and also with an indicator in email list.
Why? Makes it real easy to see what account an email came in to.

Include archive, delete, and flag buttons in mail notifications
When the notification window is displayed for new incoming email, please include buttons to quickly archive, delete, or flag the new incoming email without having to go to the main outlook window. It would be nice to be able to quickly delete incoming email if we don't want to read it, right from the notification display.

Mail Clean Up
Add a Clean Up feature as the Windows version currently has to clear up any duplicate emails/unnecessary emails from conversation threads.

Add option to remove email date groups in inbox
I keep a pretty clean inbox, and while I like the overall design of thew new Outlook's Inbox area a lot of screen space is wasted to these "This week", "Last week", etc" identifiers that are just not needed.
Please let me turn them off, like you could in old Outlook (via unchecking "Show in Groups" setting).

Send and Archive button
It will be very useful to integrate a button that, while replying to a mail, send a message and archive all the thread.

Customize the Touch Bar
With the new Outlook for Mac starting new and waiting to be more like a native Mac application I would suggest allowing users to customize the Touch Bar options. Right now there are missing functions for the Touch Bar and the old version of Outlook for Mac did not allow for customization. It would be good to allow us to customize what functions we would like to have on the Touch Bar.

Larger indicators for flags/categories for messages
Categories and Flags should have more visible color indicators- the minimal style is hard to parse visually as it can be in different places. If there is only one applied, then a full background color (like in the old days) would be wonderful. But even having a larger bar that is full height on the left side would be much more useful than the moving items we have now.

Search Sent folder for "To:" addresses, not "From:"
When I'm searching sent mail, I NEVER need to search on the From: message, and am ALWAYS looking for a message I sent to someone. I'm sure there are exceptions to that for some people and accounts, but in general, that would be the intelligent field to be searching for when in the Sent folder.

Allow draft message deletion through key combination
When writing a draft message, allow quick deletion of the draft with a keystroke, such as Cmd-Delete, instead of requiring the mouse to be used on a button at the bottom of the screen. Historically, it opened a new window which I could just close with Cmd-W.

Make "view with a dark/light background" follow the App/OS theme
In the New Outlook mode, 16.33 (19120401), on macOS Catalina, 10.15.2 Beta (19C56a), the option to view email with a light or dark background is great, but it would be awesome if it followed the App/OS theme.
For example, when the OS theme is dark, and Outlook is not set to always show light mode, it should automatically apply the "view with a dark background" setting, and allow the user to select "view with a light background" if they choose.

In Inbox view, When Reading pane is set to None, let me peek into the mail on hover over, also show me a quick menu on left.
In Inbox view, When Reading pane is set to None, let me peek into the mail on hover over, also show me a quick menu on left. Essentially, today I click on email to see the content, then decide to reply or mark as read or delete or move. Instead, I would like a bigger inbox view with bigger peek area for mail and quick click less access to the menu. So, as I hover over an inbox item for a second, show me the email on right, show me the quick menu on left. I can move mouse on…
3 votesHave you tried Reading Pane on Right? This displays a preview of the mail on the right side of the Message List.

unread next to replied/forwarded in Message List
Please could the symbols for unread, replied etc appear next to each other? Then I can see at a glance which email is unread and which I have replied to? Currently it is hard to tell at a glance

Fix the focus / double click issue when opening emails
There is a bug that if you are not focused on Outlook, then double click an email you want to open, it opens the previously selected email. You then have to make sure you are focused in outlook, then double click the one you want.
Instead of doing that, it should focus the email you click, THEN open that email. It looks like the events are firing in the wrong order or something weird....
Try it for yourself. It's pretty irritating.
