  1. Include archive, delete, and flag buttons in mail notifications

When the notification window is displayed for new incoming email, please include buttons to quickly archive, delete, or flag the new incoming email without having to go to the main outlook window. It would be nice to be able to quickly delete incoming email if we don't want to read it, right from the notification display.

  2. Mail Clean Up

Add a Clean Up feature as the Windows version currently has to clear up any duplicate emails/unnecessary emails from conversation threads.

  3. Send and Archive button

It will be very useful to integrate a button that, while replying to a mail, send a message and archive all the thread.

  4. Show the folder name of the note found in a search

I want to store a yearly tax receipt in a folder with the previous yearly tax receipt, but I do not remember the name of the folder. A search of keywords finds the current and the old document but it does not tell me where the older document is stored. With nearly 200 folders, some of which are obvious where NOT to look, I still have to search the remaining folders for last year's tax receipt.

  6. Customize the Touch Bar

With the new Outlook for Mac starting new and waiting to be more like a native Mac application I would suggest allowing users to customize the Touch Bar options. Right now there are missing functions for the Touch Bar and the old version of Outlook for Mac did not allow for customization. It would be good to allow us to customize what functions we would like to have on the Touch Bar.

  7. Larger indicators for flags/categories for messages

Categories and Flags should have more visible color indicators- the minimal style is hard to parse visually as it can be in different places. If there is only one applied, then a full background color (like in the old days) would be wonderful. But even having a larger bar that is full height on the left side would be much more useful than the moving items we have now.

  8. Search Sent folder for "To:" addresses, not "From:"

When I'm searching sent mail, I NEVER need to search on the From: message, and am ALWAYS looking for a message I sent to someone. I'm sure there are exceptions to that for some people and accounts, but in general, that would be the intelligent field to be searching for when in the Sent folder.

  9. Allow draft message deletion through key combination

When writing a draft message, allow quick deletion of the draft with a keystroke, such as Cmd-Delete, instead of requiring the mouse to be used on a button at the bottom of the screen. Historically, it opened a new window which I could just close with Cmd-W.

  10. Bring back the ability to sort and resize columns in mail for "New Outlook:

It would be good to bring back the ability to resize columns in "New Outlook" since I'd like to see more of the message title and less of the sender.
It would also be good to be able to change the colum order, or move the delete/archive flag column back to the left. In the current order, I keep accidentally deleting messages, something I never did when that column was at the left.

  11. Make "view with a dark/light background" follow the App/OS theme

In the New Outlook mode, 16.33 (19120401), on macOS Catalina, 10.15.2 Beta (19C56a), the option to view email with a light or dark background is great, but it would be awesome if it followed the App/OS theme.

For example, when the OS theme is dark, and Outlook is not set to always show light mode, it should automatically apply the "view with a dark background" setting, and allow the user to select "view with a light background" if they choose.

  12. Support for contact lists (not contact groups!)

Support for contact lists from Outlook.com on the web.

I know contact groups (...@groups.outlook.com) are supported, but support for contact LISTS is also needed.

  13. In Inbox view, When Reading pane is set to None, let me peek into the mail on hover over, also show me a quick menu on left.

In Inbox view, When Reading pane is set to None, let me peek into the mail on hover over, also show me a quick menu on left. Essentially, today I click on email to see the content, then decide to reply or mark as read or delete or move. Instead, I would like a bigger inbox view with bigger peek area for mail and quick click less access to the menu. So, as I hover over an inbox item for a second, show me the email on right, show me the quick menu on left. I can move mouse on…

  14. Show Reply/Forward button and quick access to conversation view

Two useful features I believe to be missing in this build:
    • On the "You replied to/forwarded this message." bar, please add back the button that allowed quick access to that sent message.
    • Along the same lines, there used to be a quote bubble near the top of the reading pane that allowed quick access to the full thread of a conversation, for those of us who prefer to not use conversation mode. Would love to see that returned.

  15. unread next to replied/forwarded in Message List

Please could the symbols for unread, replied etc appear next to each other? Then I can see at a glance which email is unread and which I have replied to? Currently it is hard to tell at a glance

  16. Fix the focus / double click issue when opening emails

There is a bug that if you are not focused on Outlook, then double click an email you want to open, it opens the previously selected email. You then have to make sure you are focused in outlook, then double click the one you want.

Instead of doing that, it should focus the email you click, THEN open that email. It looks like the events are firing in the wrong order or something weird....

Try it for yourself. It's pretty irritating.

  17. Folder Management for Gmail Accounts

I still cannot add folders and subfolders to my Gmail account, which is my main email account. I can with outlook.com and yahoo.com accounts but the function is greyed out for Gmail. This has been a longstanding issue with Outlook, will it ever be fixed.

  18. The new outlook format doesn't give you the option to move an email to a local folder

You can no longer move Gmail mails to local folders (which was possible with the old version). The only folders that show up in the "Move->Choose Folder.." option are ones that are created within gmail.

If you wanted to create a folder within Gmail you can't - that option is greyed out.

  19. approval assistant support

Would like to be able to accept or deny approval emails for DL emails as I can in the browser or the Windows client. Most annoying as I need both the browser and Mac client open.

  20. more formatting options on compose

The web client has the ability to style text as a quote, while the Windows client has the ability to add standard styles (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.) which is similar to Windows/OSX version of Word.

It would be great to gain more style formatting options in this new Outlook for Mac.
