More content in the sidebar
The sidebar is a bit bare with just the current month in it. It seems like a waste of good space. Perhaps it could show the next few months' calendars for date selection? Or perhaps it could show a list view of upcoming events below the one month calendar shown now?

Exactly! Why have two sidebars? Don't reinvent the wheel and make it look like the Windows 10 Clock/Calendar flyout. :)
