Suggested Reply - Eliminate text recommendations or make them opt-in only
Suggested words and phrases suddenly started appearing for me in my Outlook for web a few days ago without any prior communication or action on my part, and without my consent, either.
They are annoying and intrusive, and forcing them on me was presumptive, rude, and hateful.
I know exactly what I want to say and take great pride in my writing and my editing ability. When I want input from others, I will ask for it. I DO NOT NEED (NOR WILL I EVER WANT) SUGGESTIONS from an automated AI.
Please disable them and only make it an opt-in choice for those who actually want and will benefit from them.
Allowing us to give feedback on the suggestions themselves but not telling us how to turn them off altogether is even more frustrating.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re constantly trying to improve the quality of our features, but we realize not everyone finds them helpful.
To disable Text predictions:
- Click the Settings button at the top of the page, then “View all Outlook settings”
- Go to “Mail” → “Compose and reply”
- Scroll to “Text predictions”
- Clear the checkbox labelled “Suggest words or phrases as I type”
To disable Suggested replies:
- Click the Settings button at the top of the page, then “View all Outlook settings”
- Go to “Mail” → “Compose and reply”
- Scroll to “Suggested replies”
- Clear the checkbox labelled “Show suggested replies”

I followed instructions from other users how to turn this awful feature off, and they seemed to work, so I'm repeating here:
Go to Settings (the little gear-shaped icon in the top right corner) --> View all Outlook settings
--> Compose and reply
--> Text predictions
--> Un-click the box "Suggest words or phrases as I type" -

Agreed! The so-called 'suggestions' are annoying, distracting, and interrupt my train of thought! Even Gmail allows you to turn off their 'suggestions'. Why does Microsoft think we should be required to use their ideas without even asking if we want to see them? I'm getting very tired of MS 'Big Brother' attitude towards us, their customers!

Regarding these intrusive suggestions, I share the frustraton and resentment of so many of my peers as registered here and expressed in personal conversations. Why are you unwilling to address these remarks? At the very least, make it possible for us to disable them permanently!

When someone sends you a message and you want to reply there are suggestions there and I think they should come with settings so it is optional to have them or not.

I hate those auto-suggested words and phrases. I appreciate the comment I see here about how to turn them off.
Outlook should publicize this option more visibly. Having this new "service" sprung on me was truly irritating....to be polite. -

A few people have commented on how to turn this off... and I tried the suggestions and it worked!!!!! (I copied this from the comment I used to get rid of the feature: I just deactivated it!! Go to Outlook Settings, Click View All Outlook Settings, Click Compose and Reply, Scroll to the bottom to Text Predictions and turn it OFF! Hope it works.)

Please stop throwing changes at us without a preliminary inquiry.
Having an AI give me suggestions for my email is annoying and a big distraction when I'm typing. All of us who are perfectly capable of writing our own emails and replies are asking you why you didn't make this an "opt-in" from the start!? -

I agree with above. Does not help at all. In fact, often puts in wrong words. I don't need it. I know what I wish to say. Is distracting and slows me down. never asked for it. In all due respect, it's a terrible idea.
What are the terms of service? Don't understand.
Please disable. Please, please disabled.

Make them opt-in if there are people who want it. I agree with the others -- an intrusion on my thinking; annoying . To set them up without a trial period is RUDE, annoying and discourteous.
How can I opt out?

I totally agree with the above writer. I keep responding to your question asking whether I find the suggestions helpful saying no and offering the same explanation as the above writer when asked to explain. STOP IGNORING MY REQUESTS TO TURN IT OFF! EITHER TURN IF OFF ON MY ACCOUNT OF TELL ME HOW TO TURN IT OFF!!

Please listen to the many voices who want this disturbing feature to stop. Why make a simple email more difficult for the user? If people want it for some reason, let them select that feature. Please don't force it on everyone.
