The in-line Delete trashcan that appears beside the senders name when you hover over a message is quite often in the wrong place when you go to click to open a message.

In the desktop view it has no place here, bring back keyboard shortcuts to delete the message and navigate and ditch the mouse controls.

The inline delete icon will quite often appear in the middle of the senders name, so when you select the message and click at the same time it is instantly deleted.

At the very least, add a delay after hover so it doesn't appear instantly.

This touch friendly world has gotten out of hand and is unproductive.
