Please enable desktop notifications for the online version of all Office products
Desktop notifications are available for emails! We’re working on supporting calendar reminders and VIP emails in the next couple months as well.
Looking into the issues with ubuntu.
Yesterday I got information form MS support (Sandeep Patil) that Desktop notifications aren't supposed to work at all (for email nor for calendar).
I am logged into outlook.office.com and I still don't see the option to enabled desktop notifications. I cleared browser cache/storage etc for the site and rechecked. Still no result.
I am still not getting Desktop Notifications on Firefox 68.1.0esr (64-Bit) on Win7, even though I specifically enabled Notifications for the browser. Even after you said you've fixed it.

Desktop notifications only work when not focused on an email
I really don't like anything about these changes so far. The appearance is not at all conducive to stress-free working. Where are my notifications? I have a full day and it's saying I have none.
I don't see the bell that give you notifications of who liked messages
The desktop notifications are not working even if the outlook.office.com/mail/inbox is open, so I cannot see wether I received new email or not.
And this goes also for notifications about calendar events.
I love having my notifications on the left hand side (reminders/likes). I need that to stay.

There are features in your new layout that are missing that the older layout had for mail. I couldn't find the notifications bell and the next appointment that was scheduled no longer appeared in the bar next to "filters". It's fine to change the layout but reducing functionality like that or making more steps to get to business related tasks than what you had makes your new outlook layout less useful instead of more.
Push notifications are not working. Application has to be refreshed before new emails appear
It would be much better if for example, calendar notifications would appear when using email and vice versa. It is not functioning this way in my outlook.
