I am not able to check my contact list alphabetically while sending email by clicking on new email .

As of yesterday, the Contact Picker dialog has been returned to an alphabetical A-Z sort order. As many comments show, lots of Outlook.com users are already seeing the fixed behavior. If you do not observe this in your Outlook Web session, you will need to refresh your browser (or maybe even clear your cache).
Again, the sort order not being alphabetical A-Z was always a bug and was never by design.
You may be interested to know the next item on our plan for the Contact Picker: Soon, there will be a way to type letters and by so doing filter the list down to matching entries. This means you shouldn’t need to scroll over and over, in the future.
Thanks for your continued support.

Look at the bright side, folks. At least the individuals who thought this one up are computer engineers and not real engineers - designing the airplane you ride in or the car you drive or that bridge you drive across.

When I try to generate a new message and click on to", "cc", or "bcc" areas, my contact list is longer alphabetized and contains only a partial listing of contacts. Making me scroll further down into another page of unorganized chaos trying to locate my contact. Process is very cumbersome and time consuming to send any new messages. For years I prioritized my individual contacts and group contacts, not a very user friendly format. Disgusted with the inconvenience and grief the Engineers have recently created for me!!!

I agree with all these posters. I'm hoping it's just a glitch and will be fixed quickly. Otherwise I will reluctantly abandon Hotmail after 20+ years.

As I am not all that tech savvy, and am concerned that my address might disappear completely, so I have printed it out.....and will highlight those I use the most on the paper.
Easier for me than scrolling through the drop down list.Let's keep the feedback going....maybe with enough people we will be heard.

Why and when did they change this?
I need to have my contacts alphabetically when forwarding an email as I have over 150 contacts and I have to search 3 pages for the one I want every time I forward an email. This is very very frustrating!!! Please tell me how to get them alphabetically as they were a week ago. -

Day four of the mess MSN has created with another horrible unworkable upgrade. MSN broke it now MSN fix it. Do you think the people below are happy? They are the ones taking the time to complain. I pay for my MSN, are you going to refund my money? How stupid are you? I hope you never get your hands on some plutonium, you could be dangerous!
FIX THE PROBLEM!

So do we really think these people care about all of this? What they are doing is allowing us to vent and when we tire of doing so, everything will die down and they will remain with this absolutely absurd means of displaying contacts. A few people who up and leave their service because of this will not make a blip on their radar screen. Since this move has made Outlook unusable for me if I am sending to multiple recipients I have exported my address book to another service and will begin using that service for outgoing mail. I will drop Outlook Premium prior to my next annual payment and go back to free Hotmail for those people who will still mail me there. I think they calculated this move into the equation before they did this so I doubt they will pay attention to us.

My contact list is not only scrambled alphabetically, but does not appear as a continuous list. Only parts of it appear at one time, so I cannot smoothly scroll through it. Definitely not an improvement.

when clicking "To" the contacts are not only not in alphabetical order but not even my most frequent contacts. I have to " load more " and still not my most frequent contacts and click " load more " I finally get my more frequent contacts. This is the opposite of what is supposed to happen. Please just show all contacts in alphabetical order. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

The “New message contact list in most recently used order” is certainly the worst possible UI for addressing messages.
Add a “settings option” for users to control whether or not the new message contact list is useable (in alphabetical order) or unusable (most recently used order).

I have been a Hotmail user since it first came out in the late 1990's. It seems that every time the engineers come up with an "improvement," Hotmail becomes less user friendly and more cumbersome. For example, there was a time when one typed in the name (or part of the name) of a contact, their email address would populate. That feature went away with one of the engineers team's so called improvements. There have been numerous other "changes" over the years, each of which (in my opinion) has made Hotmail more cumbersome and less user friendly. However, this latest change is simply the worst of the worst, and judging by the comments of other users, I would say I am not alone. Simply put, if Microsoft does not make the older format an option (of selecting addressees from an alphabetized list), I'm off to gmail. So far, there has been 125 comments complaining about this. There needs to be one million.

We really miss our contacts being in alphabetical order when we click on the "to", "cc", or "bcc" areas. The contacts are NOT in the order of usage, so the AI isn't working anyway. The useful search for us is the alphabetized listing, as we can quickly click all the contacts we wish to communicate to. Otherwise, it's just a jumble. Your company should at least give us the option of wanting to search via alphabetical method. When I went into the "People" section, yes, they were all alphabetized, however, when you designate them, the function doesn't always work correctly to send the email....you may have to click several times to send....but, also the functionality is work intensive.....every contact you designate automatically goes to the "to"....if you want to "bcc" several people, you have to drag every contact from the "to" to the "bcc". What should be a simple function (as was the case in the original set up), has now become extremely labor intensive and not usable. If your company wishes to change things, at least give the option of keeping things as they were.

Please return to an alphabetical list of Contacts - as it still is in the People app. Finding a contact now it is not alphabetical takes so much longer.

Hate the new dropdown of contacts when I go to forward email. Not in alphabetical and no way to change it. Thinking of going to gmail.

Please return our Contact lists to Alphabetical Order, or give us the capability to do so!!! And STOP "FIXING" WHAT IS NOT BROKEN!!!
If YOU, the developer(s) want YOUR personal Contact Lists displayed in this new ridiculous manner, then just do YOUR LIST, and leave ours' alone! -

The list is NOT SORTED IN ANY WAY. It took me 40 min to send invitation to 15 people because I had trouble finding emails. Who was the 'genius' that came with the ''improvement" idea? He / she should be fired!!!!

I have my contacts sorted specific way for years. Your new changes completely messed up my list. People whose name I use occasionally are on the top and frequent contacts scattered all over. This 'enhanced' sorting is awful. If you really want to enhance at least give users an option to return back to the OLD way or ask before making changes. Marina
