Too much junk / spam: Junk folder becoming to inundated
20 year user moving to new platform. Flooded my junk box with advertisements now I have to search for any emails that may be of value to me that don't automatically filter to my inbox. It's a shame.
Having to go through 500+ junk emails to get my important emails is driving me crazy. This situation recently happened. What is going on? In the recent past I might have to go through a 100 or so after a few days. Now 500 a day. Any solutions?
Improve your Spam filters.
Getting around 100 emails a day in junk mail.
Rules do not work automatically as you state.
Wht can't you block addresses that keep changing last part of address i.e email@example.com
Come on who would have an address of firstname.lastname@example.org
i.e here is an example
The first part always return@ but last part jumbled up letters which keeps changing.
This is getting beyond a joke.
Why is it you can search for rules not working in outlook and it goes back years.
You have not done anything to address people's issues with rules.
It shows that Microsoft products are a waste of time as your support is useless.
Such a simple thing to sort out on your end.
I've seen the so-called support which says delete the rules and recreated them. This does not work, even after resetting outlook to default settings, and creating a new profile etc etc the rules do not work.
Sweep is turned off!!
We should not have to run the rules manually, what's the point of creating a rule if you end up having to do it manually!!!
Let's see some action and get a fix done THIS YEAR
Let's see a new outlook that works in 2020..
Or is this a ploy to get all your outlook users to convert over to Gmail? if so your doing a very good job at that!!!
After logging out I get directed to the MSN.com homepage.
This is MICROSOFT, not some dinky "parent-working-from-home-make-a-bucks-on-the-side' homepage. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY LINKS TO CLICKBAIT, AND WHY DO SO MANY OF THE "ARTICLES" REFRESH AND LEAD YOU TO SUSPICIOUS WEBPAGES FULL OF PHISHING/SPAM??!?!?!?
10 seconds after clicking to read a news article about discrimination the page auto-redirects me to spam/phishing page that gets auto-blocked. Come on MICROSOFT, get it together, that is NOT professional.
This is the link for the page I was redirected to (and this happens all the time, not an isolated incident)
@Anonymous: Unfortunately, until Microsoft does something to improve the filters, on their end, there is nothing we can do. The block feature no longer works, so the junk folder now gets FLOODED with unwanted scam/phishing/spam emails. PLEASE MICROSOFT! FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!
Yes me to, Im getting 50+ of emails with this hotmail.notice.appspot.com and Its driving crazy!!! i have tried to block them many times but its not working.....PLEASE someone help me do something!!!
please stop Support@..... spam e-mails goin to my subscription list
why the **** there is a limit for blocked/whitelisted emails? what is 1024 addresses if spammers get 100 new domains every day? ...and that dumb sugestion "try blocking domains instead of specific address"... well,.. then make that option easliy accessible, because going to settings with every of those 100 domains every day is not very cool...seriously considering changing my mail provider and I've using hotmail since about 10 or more

I got 420 emails overnight in the Junk folder. RULES DO NOT WORK AT ALL.. I am also moving to a new platform.

Ever since this last up-date, I am receiving as many as 50-75 "junk" e-mails daily, compared to maybe 5-10 per day, and am now receiving some very vulgar and most inappropriate "junk" e-mails that should not be allowed to be published on this site!! and if this is allowed to continue, I will no longer use this site!!
Too many spam, I am realy fed up

Ditto to all the below comments - five times the number of spam emails to my outlook account in the last week. First they were all .xyz but now they've changed to newsletter@...
There HAS to be a algorithm to stop these!!!

I did not mind the few junk Emails that I used to get.......but getting 100+ **** related Emails a day from email@example.com is ridiculous. rules are not working at all!

yes, TOO MUCH SPAM ! You've fixed up the front of the house - but the back door is wide open !!

I agree with all the comments added so far. Clearly we are being spammed BIG TIME !! Nearly all of these are coming from similar but slightly different domains so any rules ( if ever allowed on the junk folder) would have to be flexible enough to cater for that or else they won't work anyway. My vote would be to have them stopped at source. It's pretty clear when someone is sending a lot of stuff to a lot of people on a regular basis. Maybe use some sort of holding bay and get your AI algorithms to dump the bulk of it
I am deeply angry, upset and annoyed (to be polite) about the quantity of junk email I receive every day.
Can you please improve the filters??
TOO MUCH SPAM

Help!!!!!! Make the spam STOP! It just started and I am getting junk every few seconds. HELP!!!
Agreed, junk email is getting way out of hand, I get 100+ a day. Why won't rules run on Junk folder to delete this garbage?

I have way too many unwanted 'subscriptions' hitting my account and even after I unsubscribe and block the sender, they show up in my subscription list every single day. Since Outlook won't let me block an entire domain (or allow the mail rules to work on the Junk folder), I keep getting my junk mail FULL. The online support is of no help. They keep saying a FIX is in thew works, but no ETA. I think if Outlook REALLY wanted to fix this they would have already. If Outlook is getting an error when I try to unsubscribe because the e-mail address they are trying to reach is malformed, then THEY should just block the entire domain to eliminate all this junk - UNLESS Outlook is making a profit by allowing the spam to hit our accounts.
I believe Outlooks knows how to fix this mess and will not. Why would they as long as people are using this service they are happy. I am going to delete this account 36 junk mail all spam. Such smart people can be so STUPID.
