Too much junk / spam: Junk folder becoming to inundated
20 year user moving to new platform. Flooded my junk box with advertisements now I have to search for any emails that may be of value to me that don't automatically filter to my inbox. It's a shame.
Outlook has become complete garbage. You can't block anything unless it's something important. Otherwise reporting or trying to get any assistance from Outlook is NULL. Each day I get twice the amount as the previous day and the more I contact Outlook (only to be ignored) the more I get. ALL FROM THE SAME SPAMMERS. Outlook seems to be selling out emails and ALLOWING this to happen.
I'm just adding my agreement to the growing pile. I too have had this hotmail address for twenty-plus years, and the amount of junk mail making it into the inbox these past months is astounding. Something has definitely changed. And I'm also having trouble with the "Spam filter" emails; any time you click yes or no on them, it shuts the program down. I have to open up a new browser to get back in (from Chrome to Firefox). I want to stay loyal to Microsoft just because I've been with them for so long, but this is getting ridiculous.

Are you seriously going to tell me that you can't figure out that of8255WO-eOuw-TT9F-gkfR-vfR0YyxJGNP5@TT9F.trardapy.top is not a valid e-mail and should be caught by your SPAM filter (IF you even have any). DO YOUR JOB
Same here. Something changed and now I'm being flooded with unwanted emails. I keep selecting them to be blocked or marking as phishing, but it's getting worse. What happened? I've had this hotmail account for 20 years as well. Such a shame. Not sure who to even contact about this, so I'm just going to have to change.
Have email like this 'From: PlatinumCardFromCreditOne! <support@vPqHErQ7oe.humansavelifefromfire.com>' able to come thru into inbox, yet required emails or informational emails from legit organisations end up as spam.
Of all the recent changes, the smtp information provided in the POP section, been beneficial. This should be your standard to follow.
All other changes sadly been underwhelming, invaluable especially this junk filtering.
same here, despite I block them over and over, useless, have to look into junk mail to make sure important emails are not into them. So frustrating. Please help
i get a spam message in the inbox and an option to unjunk/junk , i click on junk it opens a new tab AND webmail crashes.
SOMETHING WENT WRONG

Yes, the more you try to get rid of them the more they multiply. Also a 20 plus year user. I can't take it any more!

What's going on with your spam filter, guys? I reached 999+ spam e-mails in about a week. That is outrageous!
When are you going to STOP the SPAM? I'm getting 6 spams every hour of every day. We are all tired of Microsoft NOT fixing this problem. It's amazing that when I leave the brower open these slow down to a fraction, which leads me to believe that Microsoft are the ones that are spamming me.
The amount of spam you are letting through is making outlook.com a farce. It seems that you are being sponsored by the sites that are flooding us with links that contain malware and viruses.
SORT IT OUT.
How can I contact outlook? I am getting too many spam emails. Although most of these emails are automatically sent to junk mail folder, I am wondering why suddenly so many junk mails are coming to my address? Do I need to stop using hotmail/outlook?
DELETE EXISTING RULES AND RE-CREATE THEM. Just wanted everybody to know I have tried this and it DOES NOT WORK!! One of the suggestions I have seen is 'old' Hotmail rules sometimes messed up newer Outlook filtering, and the suggestion was to delete the rules and create new ones. So I tried it. Waste of time. I re-created hundreds, probably thousands of 'rules' to delete junk emails with certain words in the subject line, body, etc. Email coming in with words like F***, free Cancer Consultation, CBD Gummies, etc. in the subject line? Should be easy to filter these emails out with an automatic delete rule, right? Wrong. No joy. After Thanksgiving vacation, I had nearly 800 spam emails in my Junk folder in 4 days (that's 200 per day), many with the exact words in the Subject line that should have caused them to be automatically deleted. Of course, 1 or 2 legit emails get lost in the Junk folder even when you have created rules for certain senders to be on a 'Safe List' so you just cannot throw out the entire folder without checking first. I'm going to try automatically setting up my Hotmail to automatically forward all emails to a Gmail account and start using Gmail. At least Gmail's filters actually work. Unfortunately, like many others, my Hotmail account has been around for at least 25 years or so, and it would be a royal pain to notify people of an email address. Good Gaaawwd. I see that this Outlook feedback page wants you to enter your e-mail to post a comment. Well, I hesitate to post my email in ANY website as it seems to automatically get directed to spammers world-wide. Why would I expect anything different form MS or Outlook?? What a complete, head-shaking shame.
Email blocking or phising options fail to stop junk or spam mail. Each day the number of junk mail received grows in numbers. Please make these options more actionable, Thank you

WELL OBVIOUSLY NO ONE AT HOTMAIL WORKS TO FIX PROBLEMS. "SEARCH PEOPLE" SHOULD BE FROM "MY PEOPLE CONTACT" FILE NOT EVERY JUNK EMAIL SENT TO ME AS IF THEY ARE MY CONTACTS.
I will no longer be using Hotmail/outlook because of the number of junk mail showing up in my inbox.
I'm moving to gmail this is ridiculous! Over 200 junk spam each day I have to filter through for a valid mail. Its 2020!!
over 1300 junk mails were received in my junk mail folder between Monday, Nov. 25 and Monday, Dec 2. I marked them as "phishing" and as they went into the "deleted items" folder I deleted them. I did save two return email addresses and ATTEMPTED to place them in my "block senders and domains" setting...BUT THE SETTING WOULD NOT ACCEPT THEM.
Come on guys....DO YOUR JOB and program hotmail.com so that when I mark an email "block" it is not received.

The spam can be easily handled IF microsoft handles the rules system better.
In google you can make your own scripts that can easily sweep your own mailbox and delete all spam mails AND move mails in the proper folders.
See my example here: https://computerrelatedtipsandtricks.blogspot.com
Why cant we program the order in which files are recognised?
Why cant we setup better filters?
Why do mails still come in the spam box when I have explicitally said that they are not spam (based on the from address).
It looks like this simple thing isnt even fixed.
I wish for correctly working filters, as it is now it is basically VERY bad. I think the mails are received and put in a spam box too early in the process. They FIRST need to be filtered on which mails are allowed and THEN which are not allowed.
It looks like the rules of spam tagging is incorrect.
I wish for a programmable way (as gmail does for example) to remove and categoriise the mail.
