Too much junk / spam: Junk folder becoming to inundated
20 year user moving to new platform. Flooded my junk box with advertisements now I have to search for any emails that may be of value to me that don't automatically filter to my inbox. It's a shame.

Why is outlook going down hill I now receive approx forty to fifty spam emails a day didn't two years back Hotmail.is now a joke I also have a g mail account I am lucky or unlucky if I receive one or two a month what dose that tell you.
Your block email, report email dose not work is there any chance that you might want to comment as you are not a company that holds a two way conversation so again I live in hope that a reply may be forthcoming
Need rules for junk/email to filter inappropriate junk mail by type. Such as ****** content.
4000 or more a year junk/spam/phishing, etc

Nearly all the spam I get now has some sort set of unicode characters it it. That is, the From name or Subject comes through with underlines or bold or other bizarre typesets. I get nearly no unicode characters in legitimate e-mails, so I would love an option to filter all e-mails with characters outside of a normal Western set of letters into spam. For example, I would love to be able to send anything that said F̳r̳e̳e̳ ̳W̳a̳l̳m̳a̳r̳t̳ ̳C̳a̳r̳d̳ into spam automatically. See those strange unicode characters?
As of 12/14/2019 junk mail that is selected to be "blocked" started going to the deleted folder instead of disappearing. Now I have to go to the Deleted folder to get rid of them. I thought this problem was occurring earlier this year and got fixed; now the problem is back. Are your programmers going around in circles? Also, the junk mail does not seem to get blocked as I get over 50 junk mails per day and some are the same topic as earlier days.
Since few months, I encounter the same problem. So please Stop to tell people and find normal to put the sender to the trusted list or to put it in your contact. I can understand that some emails still go on the spam even if they are not but when 80% of my emails which are in spam are not spam. And in more most of them come from big account (VMware, OVH, Ikea, Mediamarkt, and even MICROSOFT) There is a problem with this antispam (and since few month). The algorithm doesn’t work, and Microsoft don't want to correct it. It is the 5th year that I have the office 365 and before we never had encounter that!
I contacted the support of Microsoft and they took the people for idiot and they don't care about it!
I told them:
- 80% in my spam are not spam - reply it is normal the system work fine you should put it in the trusted site.
Really, 80%!!!! and it is me who should put the emails in the trusted sender...
- Hey, the emails come from big accounts even Microsoft - reply This email don't come from Microsoft and it is a true spam and probably the others email from big account also. No luck for him I retrieve the email from Microsoft, it is a newsletter that I receive from Microsoft for the certification and this since years... I sent it to him, and you know what ?? no reply, no excuses for this point. Just you should put the emails in trusted sender! Keep taking people for idiot...
I am very disappointed I will retain that Microsoft put a system in place which does not function and that they rest on the users to correct what they fail to do. As soon as my subscription is finished, I return to google
I don't believe anyone at MS is reading these posts and sure not doing anything about this problem. A fix need to be released.
The junk in outlook is just overwhelming and in particular adds popping up when you open an email is a very annoying and terribly distracting thing. You can not concentrate on email's content when all this junk in bright colours pops up jumping and flickering all the time. Outlook for free becomes absolutely useless and irritating. It just forces you to pay for premium otherwise you just can not use it. If it does not change, many people would consider using other providers.

I don't get a lot of spam, but am finding lots of legitimate mail in my Junk folder. I even create rules for specific emails from the NY Times directing to my Inbox, and I still get it put in my Junk folder.

Outlook is a haven for the propagation of criminal spam.

I've been following this thread for awhile now, and I didn't think the spam could get any worse. Uh, it has. WAY worse. Every few minutes more **** appears.
The spammers now aren't even attempting to make their junk look like legit email. I don't know why it's even getting to our spam folders.
Can you PLEASE block info@(random numbers and letters).de? Many other here have complained about this .de spammer.

For Chrissake Microsoft, can't you improve your spam filter!! I get messages classified as spam from approved contacts or people with whom I'm messaging back and forth, how can your algorithm get it so wrong!!
Tired of somehow receiving explicit and ****** junk mail. I continually block them, but constantly receive them. Please help!!!
I'm moved to comment again as I'm now receiving 15-30 junk emails PER HOUR. Surely with nearly 2000 comments about this issue - and many more in several threads in the Community Forum - shouldn't Microsoft let us know that they're working on this?

We users need to be able to block IP addresses; not just SENDER address. They can change their e-mail address simply by using an algorithm to change a different letter in their address to perpetuate the scam.
Actually I am now more up to around 300-400 per day and it seems to keep getting worse every week. At least for me funny thing is the volume seems to consistently pick up between 11AM and 8PM with getting 50-60 every two hours and drops off overnight until around 11AM the next day.

All the spam senders need to do is change one letter in their sender address to avoid being blocked. I have set rules to block the common denominator word(s) in these e-mails to no avail.

Your junk email filter only filters ALL junk email. There are NO degrees of discrimination. I am getting up to 250 a day with many duplications and 95% are either phishing, flagged as malicious sites by my virus protection, triplicates of the same spam or GRADE Z spam. I just upgraded my computer from an older Windows version which had a sliding junk mail filter that allowed users to chose heir own filter level - low, medium or high. I never had the problem I am experiencing now. and wish outlook had the same effective user-friendly approach to this problem. I do not have the time to patiently go through and mark each 250 unwanted pieces of spam. This upgrade to outlook has caused issues for many users experiencing the same blizzard of unwanted spam. It is up to the engineers to figure out a solution to this frustrating problem. I have done everything the outlook team has suggested like changing password etc. but the blizzard of spam keeps coming. Our computers are being put at risk for malware etc when any garbage spam is allowed to pass into our junk boxes. You need to fix this intrusive problem. I am sure you can appreciate the frustration outlook users are experiencing.

Junk mails, spam, phishing has now increase exponentially in Nov and Dec.
Unmanageable-Blocking has little or no effect.
Before junk mail was +/- 100 a Week.
Now it is +100 a day and climbing.
Any way to control this in Settings or Options?
