Too much junk / spam: Junk folder becoming to inundated
20 year user moving to new platform. Flooded my junk box with advertisements now I have to search for any emails that may be of value to me that don't automatically filter to my inbox. It's a shame.

As of 1/1/20 JUNK mail in my inbox has gone crazzy! Your spam filters no longer are as good as they were just days prior!!! What gives?!?!? You are driving people away with all this junk ****! If it doesn't get better I will be leaving. After almost 20 years with you!
Can y'all do something about spam? Even after I 'block' spam Email it goes into my deleted folder, where i have to delete once again!!! Do ya'll even read these feedback
In just 24 hours, over 140 spam emails poured into my Junk folder. The distraction of reviewing these constantly during the day and the time that it takes to look at each one to ensure that it is not an email from a new contact is unsustainable. Please fix the spam filtering so that users are not subjected to all this spam.
Yes, its ridiculous what is getting in the focused inbox, pure phishing emails. I get more in the focused box than other. Plus just pure junk also. I've started using filters for the first time because they just come over & over. The junk folder gets way to many also, wasting time looking through that to see what went to the wrong box.
Could finally be time to move on to gmail I guess, been with Hotmail/outlook a really long time. Apparently Microsoft doesn't really care and not putting enough time into trying to stop it. Maybe they are too thrilled over stealing that contract from Amazon. But its totally pathetic how bad it is now with fake emails into the focused box.
Must be getting paid to allow some spam to get through.

IF THIS IS NEW OUTLOOK I WANT OLD OUTLOOK BACK
Too much junk these days and it does not stop if I mark it junk, phishing or block it. It's very annoying.
See this as one example of sender.

Junk box worse every day with adverts. No sign of any improvement! Faced with an absolute flood every time I sign in.
Just thought it would be worth quoting below what Terry Zink, former MS (on the spam team), could find out about the issue. The news isn't good, but it's something.
If spam messages in your Outlook.com account are going to the Junk Email folder and that is the prime complaint, then that is a gap between your expectations and Microsoft's expectations.
Some - but not everyone - believe that spam filters keep all "obvious" spam out of the Junk Email folder, and only put the questionable stuff in for human review. By contrast, Microsoft doesn't necessarily differentiate between "obvious" and "non-obvious" spam, it's only highly confident by the technique that is used to catch it. As long as the spam stays out of your Inbox (and the Junk Email folder is not the inbox), then the spam filter is doing its job. Microsoft's metric is how much spam is in your inbox, not how much spam is in your Junk Email folder.
You can see that this is a gap in some folks' expectations that even the spam in the Junk Email folder should be at a minimum.
Most of the spam that gets rejected are from things on IP reputation lists. The issue with Outlook.com is that some spammers only attack Outlook.com/Hotmail, and therefore the third party IP reputation lists don't detect them. Microsoft has its own home-grown IP reputation lists, but they are used as an input into the content filter, not to reject on. This is done for various reasons that I won't go into here.
Microsoft used to silently delete spam, but dropped that practice a while ago.
If you have been using Outlook.com for a long time, and only use your Junk Email folder to review for potential false positives, but can't since there's too much junk in them, then I suspect you're going to have to make judicious use of the Safe Senders and Safe Domains feature (I think Outlook.com builds an implicit safe senders/contacts list for you, so it's probably not as bad as you think - that is, it's entirely possible you don't even have to do anything).
But, if you are having problems with false positives from new senders, and this is a major problem for you because you get a lot of email from people you don't know but want to hear from (and they are going to junk but you have trouble searching for them), then I don't have a good solution for you.
97 spam messages in just the last 14 hours. @MSFT Must stop the FLOOD of Spam into our junk folders! Each one must be looked at to ensure that it is not a legitimate message.
You have GOT to give us better tools to block SPAM. ANYTHING marked as Phishing should be blocked automatically. We should be able to block specific domains/user names. Give us the tools, and we'll fix the problem for you.
I'm getting a ton of obvious spam from domains with Unicode characters in the sender address or domain, which circumvents blocking filters. Outlook should add a filter option to block selected Unicode addresses, or block all Unicode addresses.
The torrent of spam that lands in the Junk folder is overwhelming. Every spam message sender or topic HAS to be read to be sure that it is not legitimate mail from a sender who is not in your contact list. That means that, several times per hour we must interrupt our work to read SPAM. If this isn't fixed soon, I'll have to move to Gmail. 50-100 spam messages per day is unsustainable.

ive been getting so much spam in my inbox recently its a joke, to the point where i have had to create a new email account and tranfer all my important accounts over to it. its bad enough i get so much in the junk mailbox, but to flood my true inbox too is pathetic from microsoft
The spam problem continues in the new year. I get 5 per hour. No amount of discussion with the Outlook team yields results. It's difficult for the layperson to understand why this suddenly should have happened - around the first of October.
Can it be fixed? Please??
why does your junk mail filter such so much?

The amount of junk mail, ads and spam in here is absolutely out of control. Why can't this be improved?
Update those spam filters! So tired of getting junk from the same domains!
It's gotten much worse in 2020.

After my outlook profile had been hacked in 2019 from Asia, I keep recieving spam from Spain like a flood, every day. I keep reporting them and blocking them but nothing happens
