Too much junk / spam: Junk folder becoming to inundated
20 year user moving to new platform. Flooded my junk box with advertisements now I have to search for any emails that may be of value to me that don't automatically filter to my inbox. It's a shame.

This idea has been submitted February 26, 2019 and under review since August 26, 2019. I think it is time to do some of the things that have been commented on. After all 3,451 votes and 1557 comments with this comment. The 26th of this month will be two years. Looks to me like a lot of interest by Outlook users to have something done. Posted 2/8/21

What Outlook users feel are; Outlook is targeting Outlook users with spam by using their email accounts to give us spam to inundate our email addresses. How do they do that? By telling us that it is alright to receive spam/junk email, just because these unwanted emails are going to our junk email folders. To Outlook it is ALRIGHT FOR THESE UNWANTED EMAILS TO GO INTO THE JUNK EMAIL FOLDER VIOLATING OUR SAFETY AND PRIVACY. No it is not alright because we deserve a certain amount of being able to trust Outlook to protect us from spam/junk emails. Outlook users get unwanted emails addressed not only to them but receive them in the form of someone else's email address or addressed to Undisclosed Recipients. So Outlook all we want to do is block all the domains permanently that are not on our safe senders list. ASAP. It would be helpful if Outlook could update us as to what is being discussed in regards to our comments and or ideas. It would not hurt to let people using this page know they are NOT commenting or helping to improve Outlook to make it better if no one is listening. It is better to work as a team and not stand there thinking no one is reading our comments/ideas. I also notice several issues being under review, but how long will they be under review? My guess is until we as Outlook users give up. NOT ME. As a second way to stop unwanted emails, it would be helpful, to use subjects, key words or the names of the products in the From line. Not only is my Outlook account is being inundated but it is being done with this statement and examples.
Here is a not so good one for you an example of the ineptness of Outlook. Now I am back to receiving someone else's emails that are addressed to them not to me. I have just received emails like these. I am not these people nor do I think Outlook is doing a very good job of ensuring my privacy or my safety. PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY THIS IS HAPPENING AND WHAT OUTLOOK IS GOING TO DO TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION.

Posted 2/8/21 My junk email folder is being inundated with junk emails. Outlook users, do you receive emails that in the message source it says, To: undisclosed recipients? My opinion is Outlook allows them in by having weak spam/junk email filters that allow any old spam/junk email that they want in. Just as long as they go to the junk email folder. IF A SPAM/JUNK EMAIL COMES INTO USERS ACCOUNTS IT IS NOT BECAUSE THE USER WANTS THEM TO COME IN, IT IS BECAUSE OUTLOOK ALLOWS THEM. OUTLOOK DOES NOT HAVE THE DECENCY TO SAY THESE ARE ADS AND OUTLOOK MAKES MONEY ON THEM. Yes or no, does Outlook make money on these spam/junk emails? They aren't addressed to me so how does Outlook know to send them to me? They don't and that is where the rub comes in. Most outlook users don't want them cluttering up their email accounts, period. Please stop spam/junk emails, that are sent to undisclosed recipients, from coming into my account.

My Junk email folder is still being inundated by spam emails. They are redundant in nature. To stop these emails will take Outlook to allow users to permanently block ALL unwanted emails not on users safe senders list. Emails coming into junk folder do not have credible domains and are not wanted by most users. Posted 2/8/21

It is a shame that Outlook does not listen. This idea/comment has a post dated August 2017. Basically they are all saying the same thing. So we as users have tried all that Outlook has suggested and nothing makes the junk emails slow down. We get the same junk emails with the same subjects for last four years. Outlook says vote to get an idea approved. 3,449 votes and 1553 comments later and still Outlook won't do the obvious, give a tool that works to permanently block all domains not on our safe senders list. You even preface the junk emails as saying they are going to the junk email folder because this email is not on your safe sender list. I and others have suggested a way to block some junk emails by using the From: line. There are several instances of subjects like Splash wines CarInsurance, and Destiny card as some examples of ways to block by subject. Outlook suggests blocking until reputation is degraded which does not work because it is not permanent. They only show up again and again. I have read that some have the same experience as I have when I complain to Outlook I just get more junk emails. I complain about a certain email and they switch to a different junk email. Outlook controls what junk emails come into user's account, Outlook convince me of it being otherwise. Posted 1/28/21

So my comment hasn't been approved by moderation just because I said I cancelled 365 because of this issue... Alright then. Even nicer way to treat your customers.

After years of waiting... I can't stand this anymore. I've just cancelled my Office 365 subscription because of this. And will not come back. Next months I will start my transition to Google.

If MS would allow us to apply rules to our junk mail it might help to cut down on a lot of it. Blocking or marking it as phishing does nothing. I will say when I reported the 80+ junk mails I was receiving daily to MS Support they were reduced to about half. But new ones are being added, mostly from senders ending in .de - being able to use rules would give us a little more control.

So this is interesting. I got an email from Microsoft Rewards in my junk mail folder. Your spam filters are so bad that they put your own emails into spam?
I get the same spam from the same spammers every single day. Day in and day out, 365 days a year.
Then I get email that shouldn't go to spam go to the spam folder even after I marked them as not junk over and over and over again.
Sometimes they pop back into my spam folder a few hours or a day later. Are you kidding?
Why oh why can't you figure out how to effectively filter spam?

Junk mail the past few weeks is out of control. Endless emails with the same subjects every day...smilebright, curafen, george foreman, miracle gummies. No matter how many times I block them, they just keep coming from different emails. Please do something!

Please, please, please get someone at your organization to start blocking these domains and IPs at the firewall before it even gets to our inboxes.
Receiving close to 100 SPAM emails per day from some variation of @clubbulk.live has moved beyond junk mail and into harassment!

Admin you edited my comment, Why? What you have done is taken away the people that sent my spam emails. Do you think it is not okay to let other users know some of the offending spammers and why are you protecting them? It is okay to send them to me unedited, yet you edit them. Here are the ones you edited, followed by the ones with their names which you say are spam/junk.

Here are some examples of what Outlook wants users to do, while using the dropdown provided in your email account. They want us to mark all junk emails as phishing and then still using the dropdown block them. Please remember you are only blocking these emails one at a time and Outlook's filters do not pickup the fact that these emails while the same are not blocked because these are the fake address and not the real people sending these junk emails over and over.
Examples of five junk emails:
1ink xxxxxx@lissasalmon.com>
xxxxxx@desbught.com>
SilverSingles-Ad Partner <xxxxx@coatemeng.com>
Zebit <xxxxx@wikiabitsma.run>
LeafFilter Discount xxxxx@strancips.com>Going to the message source reveals the real sender because the IP address matches the fake address. Using these five examples here they are:
1ink <newsletter@lissasalmon.com> issasalmon.com- 89.22.250.155- fake sender
Received: from pmautzaq.com- 89.22.250.155- real sender
USA_Wild_Seafood Info <newsletter@desbught.com> desbught.com- sender IP is 76.72.134.85-fake sender. Received: from lnwqdulnh.com-76.72.134.85- real sender
SilverSingles-Ad Partner <newsletter@coatemeng.com>- coatemeng.com- sender IP is 143.225.118.151- fake sender. Received from fhqodcqmmhh.com-143.225.118.151- real sender
Zebit <president@wikiabitsma.run>- wikiabitsma.run- sender IP is 198.211.97.123- fake sender. Received: from wikiabitsma.run- 198.211.97.123 real sender
LeafFilter Discount <newsletter@strancips.com>- strancips.com- sender IP is 91.194.63.50- fake sender. Received: from cbgmfyavjiri.com-91.194.63.50-real sender
My question is why is Outlook giving us false hope. Please vote for the idea that works for you. Please ask for a way to block all junk emails not on your safe senders list.(Edited by admin) -

This has been going on for far too long now and nothing has been done, you might as well bang your head against a brick wall. Over the new year period I hardly had any of this rubbish but slowly it has increased and today I have had loads of the same old ads 'keto' 'ukranian girls' 'aag mortgages' etc. Good thing is it goes into junk mail. Surely in this day and age and with the technology available all this **** should never even reach the junk mail category.

I think Outlook needs to face the fact that their filters do not work. If a user were to use their blocked senders and domains tool. It does not work either. Why? Because only so many spam email addresses can be blocked at any one time. Then when it gets full the oldest gets excessed back into the pool to come back to the user time after time. People need to comment and vote on the idea close to the idea that sounds like it might work for you. Yes you will be punished for speaking up like I have and most likely they will like me delete your posts. Microsoft this is a forum for you to hear our complaints and our ideas to make your product better not stay the same.
