turn off new features by default and allow users to turn on/off with a switch
I have spent 20 years being frustrated by hotmail (outlook). Every time MS adds a new feature they break something I used to use or the new feature is just annoying. I then spend ages trying to figure out how to use it again, contacting support, have to post a request to fix on a forum (?!?!?) etc- it is massively disrespectful of my time as a user who just wants to use email (without being part of a continual beta test program) to have this disruption all the time.
Instead of just turning on a new feature, please, please, please get your devs to develop it with an on/off switch, turn it off by default and send me an email to tell me you have a new feature I might like to check out. Then I can try it and see if its something I want to use or not. I honestly can't see that you test any of the ideas you force onto people.
Examples of ideas you forced which I personally hate but you have other users on this forum too (the 1% of people who have actually complained rather than given up)
- safelinks! OMG!!!
- pagination of folders - now impossibly slow to search for a range of emails around a date far in the past (I need this all the time)- search cannot solve this problem. This worked perfectly in previous version. If I wanted to find 2 weeks of emails 10y ago I just scrolled down. Now would take me an hour... (p.s. its really sad your support doesn't know what pagination/virtual loading means)
- sweeping/rules - I don't even know if this works now - was good, then removed, then something else added.
- 'top results' I searched - I want a list of all hits - you waste my search with random stuff in the top results list?
- general layout has wasted so much real estate and forces me into a tiny section of the screen - this just gets worse with each version with repeated buttons. Folders and Favorites both on left explorer lists? I just want folders but this wastes my space.
There are countless features you've added I don't even remember now that have frustrated me till you removed them later.
Please let ME choose if I want to use these or not. I don't need 'new ideas' when it comes to email - I just need the basics to work. Working fast folders, search, editing, multiple emails open at a time etc.

OMG YES PLEASE. I use email for EMAIL, not all this other junk that's supposed to streamline my experience that in reality just clutters it and gives me irrelevant things to constantly close or find ways to hide.
Not to mention "Focused Inbox" - absolutely loathed that and the latest "suggested replies".

The moderator decided to merge my idea to this one, which I am not happy about because now it's a comment on an idea that appears to be a couple months old with low votes and probably won't get any traction now. Maybe the moderator will set this as its own idea.
I work for a company and need the ability to features off globally, not just for myself. Or just don't have them on as default when rolling out new versions. Features such as "Offer suggestions based on keywords" and "Joyful animations". My users don't need these to do their jobs and company email is just that, company email. It is not social media and these thing take up valuable bandwidth.

We do not need these features and we need to be able to turn these features off globally. Or at least roll the new Outlook out with them turned off as default.
Designed obsolescence has always been illegal that I recall...
This chit is prompting another 50 letters to the US Senate expressing the absolutely fair notion that when you stop supporting a software package then the US Government ought to be able to scoop it up and sell it as a supported software (on a best efforts basis) so those of us who have zero use for your junk can continue to you what has been and would continue to be useful software but for you forcing the Public to move with you... simply because no one is keeping it functioning.
Most all of your customers who are businesses do not wish to be forced to use your toys for the youth of the nation. I hate windows precisely because of this .... and if anyone would read your complaints they would see it is indeed the cause of all our troubles.
Anyway, this will be number 3 such letter... number 2 got over 50k folks signing onto it .... not allot to force a new law, but it is enough to spark an inquiry should this **** continue.
how many times must I type this **** to get an answer... I don't care if it is posted... I just want to know how to get rid of these toys in the middle of my supposidly business package of software I paid for.
I too wish to be able to junk your ******** changes. This is suppose to be the Business format of Outlook. I have zero use for all your emoji and other kids toys. How do I turn off all this **** as the default position.
To Whom It May Concern: This latest version of Outlook is SO awful to use compared to previous versions that I strongly hope you revert back to the last version that worked well as soon as possible OR totally fix all the problems that this version is having (and there are MANY!).
The current version is so SLOW and unresponsive to user commands that it has become increasingly frustrating to use. Also, many new features seem to have been added (like Expressions) which is totally ridiculous for business professionals. It will be best to provide OPT OUT buttons for all of your new and undesired features so we can turn them off.
