Delete button moves when selecting emails
When selecting an email via the check box, the "Delete" button moves and it's location is then occupied by the "Archive" button.
The half second delay on this movement means I already have the mouse button over "delete", but as I click it moves and I end up archiving instead.
Why is there a comment that says "Fixed!"?? This problem persists to this day. A comment of "Fixed!" requires an accompanying instruction on how to set the service to prevent this behavior.
Replacing the Delete button with the Archive button because multiple messages are selected is akin to swapping your gas and brake pedals based upon whether you are turning left or right at the moment.
Kindly advise how to make "Fixed!" become true.
When you select > 1 item in your inbox, the delete icon on the top menu bar jumps one icon to the left. Now instead of clicking Delete, you end up clicking Archive. Buttons should not move around the page.
Why the **** does the delete button change to the archive button when two or more emails are selected?
I don't know how many times this has happened to me but at this point I am going crazy. If you select more than one email for deletion the delete option shifts over in the menu and the archive option takes it's place. I have accidentally archived so many things. And yes I know there's a handy undo button that pops up right after you do that. It would make life so much easier if the delete option just stayed put.
Absolutely infuriating! Couldn't agree more with the responses above. Please fix this issue. I'm tired of archiving emails that I intended to delete.
Shoddy UX for sure! The "you thought you were deleting, but nope, you're archiving!" is infuriating.
Rather than remove the Reply like when multiple messages are selected please 'grey it out' - I keep hitting archive rather than delete as the buttons once reply is removed shift to the left.
Select more than 1 email to delete, 'reply' drops off replaced by? Archive then takes the place of delete resulting in emails being archived instead of delete.
Suggest, No movement on the bar!
When I select multiple emails to delete, the toolbar options move, causing me to select 'archive' instead of 'delete' too often. Not terrible, but annoying when I'm trying to do things quickly.
after multi select items to delete, the 'delete' icon swapped places and ended up clicking on 'archive'. please do not move the delete button.

The buttons in Outlook.com mail client hide/show and slide sideways according to context.
The unforeseen outcome of this is that the wrong button is clicked over and over again.
For example, selected multiple messages and go to click delete. The delay in hiding/sliding combined with the changed context of multiple items being selected causes the Delete button to shift to the left and the Archive button to take its place. You aim for the Delete button, it gets swapped for Archive, and you accidentally click Archive instead. The undo button pops up briefly at the bottom of the screen, so it is easy to mis the undo window of opportunity because you are not looking there.
Also, it is disorientating to select multiple items for deletion, not knowing that it coincidentally is selecting all items, and have the Delete button change to Empty Folder, which is a different concept which is not in the mind when planning the action.
This is difficult for neurologically impaired users with short term memory, delayed response times and coordination issues.
It's terrible design principle to move buttons on the UI based on what is selected

I thought I was the only one with this problem. Why can't they leave things alone. Got to do things to justify their jobs and prove how much more clever they are than their customers.
They fixed this issue not too long ago but it's back and just as bad as ever. Is it really that hard to fix an issue and NOT bring it back a month later? One of the most annoying issues.
When deleting multiple items, if you click quickly (2-part button click) you end up archiving the items instead of deleting them due to delete button shifting to left after first button press. Frustrating.
Mails that I intend to delete often land in the archive folder due to an annoying lag of the delete and archive button(reshuffling).
When you select one email there is still a reply button, but when you select a second this dissappaers and the buttons move to the left. If I hoover on the delete button this often reshuffles late which makes me click on the archive button.
I agree. when selecting multiple emails the delete button takes a while to load thus cause emails to go to archive (where the delete button was located) thus causing unwanted archiving. Suggestion is please do not relocate the delete button when selecting multiple emails to delete. I am constantly deleting from archive because I forgot to be patient.

Annoys me too.
A simple fade/greyed out option would suffice not moving the entire menu.
Imagine the complaints if a cars pedals and things rearranged themselves depending on what a driver was currently doing?
Frustrating! This change can't come soon enough.

MSN - STOP THIS MANIPULATION, PLEASE. While your intent is no doubt to stop people from deleting unread (JUNK / UNWANTED) emails; and keep people on their emails MINUTES longer than they would be otherwise (depending on how many emails they have for which this is a [MSN deliberate] problem .... allowing for still more ADs / AD revenue for MSN) ... all you are really doing is making your customers angry and upset over this EXTREMELY VEXING AND TIME WASTING tactic. SHAME ON MSN / OUTLOOK.
