Deleted items re-appearing
Getting really sixk of deleting emails only to have them reappear multiple times.
Hey all, wanted to provide an update here. It seems like some people are having an issue where the deleted items are causing the mailbox to hit the storage limit. Please select all messages in deleted items by clicking the circle check mark next to Deleted Items. Then choose “Empty folder”. This should delete all items and free up storage in your mailbox. If you are having trouble sending emails because of a storage limit, this should help
If you are having other issues, please fill out this form and we’ll try to see what’s going on: https://forms.microsoft.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=v4j5cvGGr0GRqy180BHbR3M5kvKXLUxLg5HHvJDXsGlUMTkyUVdRNjlQV1c5UThZWVhORE04WjJUSS4u
If you delete emails one by one or in chunks of, say, 5, until your storage limit goes below your maximum, you should then be able to use the delete all/empty function. I did this and it's finally worked!!
It a bug when you are over quota. If you are over quota by a little the email will reappear. You must be a little under quota for the emails to delete. This worked for me.
Sort your mail by size with the larger email at the top using the Filter button. Delete one by one and continue to check your storage under settings (Type Storage in the search box). Click on storage. If the storage line is red you will continue to have the messages reappear. Once you delete messages one by one and the line turns blue you should be able to delete 1000s of message at a time. Until the line turns blue chances are the Bug of the messages reappearing will continue to happen.
In short, if you storage line is blue you should not have a problem. If your storage line is red you will run into what many have run into the messages continuing to appear after deleting.
I had a user with this issue and the fix for him was pretty easy. Under "Account Settings" click "Change" and then on the first window edit the Root Folder Path setting. Make it Inbox The folder will refresh and then deleted items should start going to trash as expected.
Have the same problem!!! Delete emails from Trash folder and they all just come back into the trash folder!!! Fix this and tell us how to!
I have bee trying to clean my email for the past 3 months or so, and the Deleted folder never actually deletes the items. I have missed important emails and it has cost me greatly with my employer, because I never received an important email since my storage is full and I cannot delete anything. What are we going to do about this??? I've been using this email since 2012, I cannot just change it now.
still not working - deleted emails still showing back up on outlook on my iphone
Still happening to me today. My storage is full so I went to empty the Junk folder. 1345 messages were sent to the trash. The never leave the junk folder, they reappear within seconds. When I go to trash and empty the trash folder, they disappear and then come back in a few seconds. Talk about annoying...
My company is also having this issue with some inboxes in our enterprise-level subscription. We just started seeing it last week.
This does not work for me. The y keep coming back
As others say below, we know how to delete emails permanently, the program isn't allowing us to do so.
I've never had this issue before this past weekend. Did MSN change something to where your mailbox won't work any longer unless you update to the pay-for-service?
I delete messages from my inbox but they reappear. This is frustrating! Help! Any fix to this?
I am also having this problem. I have deleted thousands of emails and emptied the deleted folder numerous times but all the emails just reappear in the deleted folder.
It means I cannot send or receive emails.
The answer from admin above does NOT work... we know how to delete emails and empty the deleted folder, but it does not work!!
What do I do?!
I am also having the same issue - email account is full - I get a pop up at the bottom of the screen to say mailbox is 100% full >view storage. Clicking on this tells me that i can send and receive emails again if i free up 153.64MB. I have tried deleting individual emails / grouped by search ref / entire folders (junk / sent / inbox "other" / deleted - on both laptop and iphone - they keep reappearing and the storage (over capacity) values do not change. So nothing is actually being deleted / removed. I have tried all the workarounds suggested on this list with no luck. Concerned that the only advice from admin is to complete the same steps that most people are complaining are not working for them?!...
When I select multiple e-mails, then click 'Delete', they appear to be deleted but when I go to my inbox again, they're still there. This problem has been around since the new Outlook interface and it's getting really annoying..
I'm still having this issue as well. Even when I choose "Empty folder" on my deleted items, when I refresh, they're all back. I've hit my limit and I'm unable to delete messages to clear up space. What am I supposed to do here?
Microsoft's original answer to us was to buy a $1075 dollar program from Cisco. Tech level 5 still can't figure it out despite talking to us like we didn't know how to delete properly.
This is why I use Google and Apple products.
it also happening to me.
I have 20,080 messages in my deleted items folder. It will not empty. My capacity is 50 GB, I have already used 26 GB, soon it will reach the quota and I will be over capacity. Why is there no solution to this problem?
1. select a message on the bottom
2. scroll up to the top of the message in the folder.
3. press shift and then select the top mail.
4. from the keyboard select delete button
5. select yes delete
