Infinite scroll makes it impossible to get to old emails
Previous iterations of outlook.com have used pagination or viewport scrolling to allow me to accurately jump to any point in the middle of my inbox. The new layout, however, uses infinite scrolling, meaning that if I want to view a message more than a few days old, I have to scroll to the bottom, wait for a few messages to load, scroll to the bottom, wait for more messages to load, ad infinitum.
In fact, I can't any way in the new inbox of jumping to a historical email. If I can remember that I received an email at the beginning of last month, I don't seem to have any way of jumping right to it - previously I could just scroll to the right point or go to the right page.
Please consider adding back in either pagination or viewport scrolling, as infinite scroll is not a suitable technique for an email inbox.
Thanks for your feedback! We recommend that you use Search to find older emails.
If you click in the search bar, on the right (next to the search icon) you will see a dropdown menu that says “All folders”.
Click on this menu, and then select the date range that you want to search in. Once you’ve applied this date range, you can search within just those dates to see your emails.
i personally find infinite (and especially automatic) scrolling very annoying and laggy, and i'd rather have a page system like hotmail dd
Use pages (like on this page) instead of infinite scroll when listing all messages. Scrolling is too burdensome, especially when I know I want to jump ahead several pages to a specific time.
If I could vote 1000 times for this, I would!! Not having pages makes the "select all" button a joke....
It's much easier to scroll down through messages visually in old Outlook than beta. when i need to do this, i flip back from beta to old outlook..

Me too, now I have to scroll "forever" to find old messages when I don't know what to search for. Earlier I could just click on the numbers to get further back, I miss that feature.
I've had hotmail for about 20 years so a lot of my folders have a lot of historic emails in them - we used to be able to jump through them using pagination but this was removed (why?) - infinite scrolling can take forever and often doesn't work with large folders and jumps about all over the place. Please bring pagination back.
Two versions ago, you used to load messages in pages, instead of a continuous scroll. It allowed me to delete a full page of messages at a time (I've had my account for like 15 years and get TONS of junk despite setting up sweeps all the time), which allowed me to keep my inbox semi-manageable. With the continuous scroll, I'm now able to grab the messages on the screen and delete them (which also sucks because not nearly as many display on the screen), but in the beta version, I can't even do that. My inbox is going to become completely unmanageable (even w sweeps) and I'll finally have to abandon this account for my gmail.
I really liked the older version where the inbox (and other folders) had only a certain number of messages per page and the number of pages in the folder was listed at the bottom. It was so easy to navigate and clean out my inbox then. As I was deleting emails, I knew how close I was to being done by how many pages of inbox I had. I despise the current inbox (any any website) where you have to scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll to look for information. I want pages!
I also despise grouped conversations. I want each message to show separately in the inbox.
Yes, this! I want pages back!
The genneral visual is cleanner and better. Also the photos icon is great!
I only didn't like the select multiple itens icon where all the emails are selected, it could be like the old version where it would only select the emails that is been seen.

Splitting emails into pages. Searching by date rather than subject matter/name.
I don't like that the page is never ending and if you select the option to select all your emails it now goes from approx. 20 to all. Including the ones you have tagged as important. There should be a limit to the length of the page and an easier way to select emails to be deleted.
