What is this moronic godaddy integration? Why can't I use my own domain without going through a low quality service like godaddy?

It is one thing to partner up with a registrar and make the process easy for people without experience in configuring a DNS, but for anyone else, and I supposed most people are not with GoDaddy despite its size, it makes things a lot more inconvenient.
Question now for Microsoft should be: Is it making the process more convenient for more customers than it is making it more inconvenient.
I would be surprised if it were not the latter.
