Beta is Horrible
My account refreshed itself last night, and I was greeted with the
message "welcome to the new Outlook!" And there was no way to
toggle back to the classic look.
The page is actually difficult to look at. The senders' names and
subjects used to be bolded to indicate new messages. Now, the
subjects are bolded, but the senders' aren't.
Why are there little icons and graphics all over the page? They
are completely unnecessary and just make it cluttered.
There is a "Favorite" folders section. Why? I don't need help
finding my own folders. Instead, I had to figure out that it could
Scrolling in my opened messages is more difficult. I have to
highlight part of the sender's address before I can use page
up/down to scroll.
There is no refresh button for the Inbox. The only way to refresh
the folder is to refresh the browser. Before the forced
transition, there were two ways to refresh the Inbox, now there
The unread messages count doesn't change while you are
reading/deleting messages. You have to exit out of the message
and refresh the folder to change the message count.
Help doesn't help. When you click on the question mark and type
in your help topic, more often than not, it says "no results." I
typed "refresh" (see above) and got a constantly spinning circle,
and then nothing. Also, it says "some features have moved to new
locations and others will be added soon." Don't force us to use
your "updated" site when it's not even complete!
Search is USELESS. Why suggest that you allow specific folder
searches when the only folders you can choose are Inbox, Sent,
Drafts, and Archive? If I know what folder I want to search and
can narrow it down to that one on my own, I should be able to
choose that folder. It used to be a possibility in older versions,
but it's been horrible for a long time.
There are no check boxes next to the messages in the Inbox list.
Instead, you have to hover over the initials of the sender to
reveal the circle, click on it, and then that reveals all the
It is incredibly slow. Messages load more slowly, and sometimes
As someone else wrote in their Beta review, "if it ain't broke,
don't fix it." Because you aren't fixing it. It's awful.
