Add an option for how long to keep junk mail
It would be nice to have an option in Settings that would allow users to choose how long Junk Mail items stay in the JM folder before they get deleted.

100% agree - 10 days is ridiculous - i've been with you guys for about 20 years - time to say goodbye and move out of here

Exactly - Microsoft, have a word with yourself - you're already losing ground to other platforms rapidly; stop making it worse by doing frustratingly idiotic things like this policy!

I'm surprised they would change this to a mere 10 days and not give an option to change it. Who checks junk mail weekly?

I can't believe Microsoft (well I can they do a lot of silly things) changed the rule from 30 days to a third of that at 10 days, didn't even communicate it AND most importantly did not provide an option to change it? I randomly check my Junk mail once or maybe twice a month at the most but now I need to do it every week almost...

I've just found out that important emails had been filtered into junk, which are now being deleted after 10 days! Please allow us change this length of time (or remove it completely). I'm happy to sort my own junk folder... 10 days seems a bit short. Thank you.

10 days limit in a junk mail with tons of false positives is unacceptable.

Yeah I use the Junk email as a filter, because the rules don't keep out the junk and legit email I would want to keep. So now nothing comes to my inbox that's not on the safe list/sender and everything else goes to junk. I don't think my junk email should have a mandatory delete set. Because what would have happen if all the junk email was in my inbox? I would have a ton of email that still wouldn't be deleted. I keep what I want in the junk email and delete everything else which works fine for me.

This 10 days auto delete is just wrong on so many levels:
I pay for a service and have never agreed to auto delete.
Since I pay for the service, the mail belong to me, MY property (in Europe you also several very strict postal laws which are broken this way as well).
Microsoft is destroying my property without asking me for permission.
This needs to be fixed urgently.
When on vacation, extended leave, sickness one cannot always access the Junk mail folder or does not even have the resources to do so.
Make it possible to switch off like in the PC Outlook version.
Or at least make rules work on Junk mail folders so we can have a work around!
For know spam I would like to make filters to have the mail go into subfolder while others should remain on top to briefly scan for legitamte mails.
Today: 10 Mails in Junk mail: ALL LEGITIMATE MAILS!
Some are from Amazon, Ebay, Microsoft themselves or even my bank. Surely these servers should be known by Microsoft to be safe senders! -

Only 10 days before you delete my emails that YOU have decided are junk, l only check 'Junk' once a month, too busy to do more often, have lost important correspondence, documents & income, NOT HAPPY, so wrong, how about Aust Post decides which letters are important mail to deliver to your organisation & which to destroy, what if your phone carrier decided to only let complaint calls come to you & blocked the sales calls because they thought they were prank calls....? I get you are trying to assist by sorting POSSIBLE junk but you have no right to DELETE. Please review processes urgently.

I cannot believe what a mess Junk Mail is in OWA. I suddenly have a problem where nothing at all shows up in Junk. I used to get on average 10-15 a day. Now zero. No joke - I just this week lost out an apartment I was trying to rent because the email evaporated. Agent even showed me a screenshot of the email she sent.
5 separate avenues looking for support and no help at all. I even pay for O365 Home.
Started using an old Hotmail account with a ****** address that I have had for 15 years. Now literally EVERYTHING goes into Spam. Even emails from technet & people I know at microsoft.com.
I worked at msft for 10 years and this is worse than Vista ever was. -

Just allow turn off JUNK filter altogether because the filter is NOT ABLE to learn new rules and even after marking email as not junk it still goes to junk. This junk filter is total JUNK. It it just doesn't work and important emails goes to junk all the time. Or make the time 60 days or whatever longer.

My junk mail has a notice on top to say that emails will be deleted in 10 days but it does not happen. I get so much junk that i wish that i could delete it sooner. Or if I had a setting to limit 30 junk mail and as I get another junk mail, the first one drops off into the deleted folder.
Thank you -

Please let the user decide if mails in the "deleted items" and "junk mail" folders will be deleted automatically and after wich period of time. You changed the settings from 30 to 10 days in "junk mail" and from no period to 30 days in "deleted items" I would like to decide that for myself. Now some mails are lost forever. You gave no notice about that change whatsoever. Sometimes I have no time to check my "junk mail" in a short period or I need a already deleted mail back.

Option to customise the number of days to retain mail in deleted and junk folders. Currently is 10 & 30 days. It's good if user can customise this.

Is anyone at Outlook listening? Deleting my junk mail within ten days whether I've had a chance to check it or not is such an obvious flaw that you have to wonder who came up with the idea. Please allow us to either change the ten days limit or to disable the option completely.

Dear moderator, please replace the phrase "it would be nice to..." by "ït is absolutely necessary to...". Now it seams as if this request is just a nice to have, which it isn't, Deleting mails which are incorrectly placed into the junk folder after only 10 days is really unacceptable. Many people have suffered from data loss (without even knowing) because of this policy.
