Contact Lists / Groups needs to be more intuitive and easier to use
To create a Group of Contacts, should be easy to do, and easy to then email to. We should be able to simply scroll through the list of contacts, checking boxes next to each name; from there it should be easy to not only email the selected contacts, but also create a Contact Group from that selection.
Currently if you select contacts in this manor you literally cannot do ANYTHING to them. You can't delete in bulk, you can't create a new message to the selected, and you cannot create a Contact Group in this fashion. This is very confusing and runs counter to the way it should work.
Also, after a group is created it should be more intuitive to find those groups. I have a LOT of customers that came over from Windows Live Mail, and the VAST MAJORITY are extremely unhappy with the way Groups work not only in Outlook.com, but an extra slap in the face is that the People App does not even support Groups at all.
I’m just learning how to create groups and contact lists. Would love to be able to create a group of more than 50-it won’t let me. I’d also like the ability to import a contact list and/or group not my entire contacts. Right now that isn’t possible. I asked Outlook and they said they might look into this. I’d love the flexibility of choosing what I wanted to import.
Is the terrible contact management because MS is trying to force us to use the paid version? It sure seems that way. I want to click on the TO button and see the list of contacts but you have to create a separate list or group or something. I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm almost ready to give up and just move over to gmail completely.
Deletion of a contact email address from within a Contact List or Group should not result in deletion elsewhere. Deletions inside and outside Contact Lists and Groups of the same contact email address should be separate actions. In short, Microsoft assumes deletion from a specialty Contact List or Group means the address is not wanted anywhere. This is a totally unjustified assumption.
It makes no sense for elimination of a contact email address in a Contact List or Group to get eliminated any place but the Contact List or Group. Contact Lists and Groups are specialized uses of contact email addresses for convenience. If this special convenience is no longer wanted, it does not mean an included contact email address is not wanted at all anywhere.
Does having an exchange email handle like @msn.com make storage and management of independent contact email addresses different from non-exchange email handles? Do @msn.com and hotmail.com handles function exactly the same regarding Contact Lists and Groups deletion issues? If the deletion issue is unique to @msn.com email addresses, can it be fixed?
Last, Microsoft Groups is supposed to permit Trusted Senders but the tab for that does not exist. Please fix. Thanks!
There should be no linkage between names in a Contact List with names stored elsewhere in Outlook.com. Currently, deletion of a list name deletes it elsewhere. It's not clear why the Contact List feature is offered, given the Groups feature which allows joint ownership (control) and avoids need to export in order to share use..
CAN'T EDIT MAIL LIST
My "to" list and my "bcc" are not the same.
How do I edit my "bcc" list to delete incorrect entries?

Please change the import for People/contacts with categories (as used by Gmail) to import to Contact lists (or better yet, categories) not Folders. This is the natural feature to permit one contact in multiple lists. It would be convenient to be able to add a contact to lists when creating the contact rather than after. Note that with the existing import feature there is an issue where once the folders already exist (ex: from a failed import attempt) it is not possible to import more contacts... this is a nightmare if the import breaks half way.

Have you ever tried to add a new contact from an email to a contact list? Its unbelievable. I am constantly getting email that needs to go into a contact list for the different countries that I visit but the process is just ridiculous and it never seems to be the same process twice. Hit and miss. And even after saving the contact just in the full list of contacts, trying to add him/her to a contact list is crazy. Sometimes the name populates after a few letters, most of the time it doesn't. Contact lists are a very important part of managing contacts and hotmail has never ever excelled in this area, but now its the worst it has ever been. Please please help!!

trying to set up new contact list but cannot get pop-up list of names to choose from, and must type in the complete email address for each contact. Didn't the developers test their new version of Outlook - nothing seems to be user friendly - slow response - poor contact pop-up list position or no pop-up at all - etc.. It's as though this current version of Outlook is an early prototype of the efficient version we just had. Please restore that version before we are all driving to gmail - or is that the goal???

Thanks for the responses! After talking with Microsoft Professional Support (800.936.4900), I was able to find a way to "more easily" import my Contacts from an Outlook PST file such that they are available in Outlook.com and importable into other online applications such as LinkedIn (which was my overall goal).
I created a new MS Live account, then with it, created a new @outlook.com email, which created an account on MS's Exchange server. Going back to my Outlook For Mac app, I added this new Outlook email account, and now all of the contacts could be dragged from the "On My Computer" contact folder and dropped into the "My Contacts" online folder. At this point, they are then importable into other applications such as LinkedIn, Google, Apple, Yahoo, etc.

You are Microsoft. You control the Outlook application, and Outlook.com. And there's no way to copy Contact data from the application into the web client? Outlook 365 only exports OLM files and Outlook.com only imports CSV files? Really? And nair the twain shall meet. Please don't tell me that no one thought of this need before now :-|
If I'm missing something, please help me understand how to transfer contacts from the application into to the web client. If I understand it right, please improve this.
Newly added contacts are not available when adding contacts to a group (i.e., Contact List). As a matter of fact, many contacts that have the same first 5 characters in the name do not show up in the list of contacts to choose from when adding to a contact list. Why can you just provide the entire list of contacts to choose from or provide the capability to select the Contact List to add a contact to while ending the contact?
Why can't I add new members to a contact list?
It needs to be easier to create and edit groups of names for group sending. Can't find a way to do it as I once did.
