Missing count unread emails in folder - summar count all subfolders

Parent Folder should show Unread Mail count if the sub folder have one

Folders not showing the total unread emails in the sub-folders is just plain bad usability.
When the Folder is collapsed, there is no way for us to see if there are new emails in its sub-folders. Which causes the user to potentially missed an email or two.
Please introduce an option for us to enable the folder to show the total unread emails including the unread emails in its sub-folders.
We need the Unread button to show all the unread messages of all folders not only unread the messages in the Inbox

Can you PLEASE bring back the numbering system that you used to have that showed you the Total Number of Messages in your box followed by the Unread Number in parenthesis!!!! Now there is no way to know both numbers. Currently it only shows you unread. Please bring that feature back. I've been asking for 2 years now!
For example, the way it used to be:
Inbox 995 (27)
There should be a way to see ALL UNREAD MESSAGES in on place. At the very least, improve the way unread messages are displayed. Currently, you can only see the number of unread messages at the root folder level. But if you happen to have a folder nested inside another folder, then the message count is not displayed on the parent. This is such an OBVIOUS improvement, I cannot believe you haven't done it yet.
1. Percolate unread message up the chain to appear in ALL parent folders.
2. Add a system folder called "Unread Messages" that references all of the unread messages in one place. DO NOT MOVE messages into this folder. Simply POINT TO THEM.
I have used both gmail and yahoo before using outlook. In both the above email providers they provide a count on the number of emails in each folders. Apart from this they also have a folder called "All Mails" in which you can see all the emails.
Can this feature be also incorporated in Outlook? I think then this would be very good option and would out run both gmail and yahoo.
The inbox widget shows only the new emails in the inbox not from folders with mails sorted away by rules. That does not make sense as they are more important than the inbox.
Please show all incoming mails or create a setting where I can choose which folder(s) I want to see.

I have to expand a folder to find out if it contains any unread messages
When a folder is closed it should contain a summary count of anything unread that is inside, it so you know if you should expand it to look.
I have missed important email because of this.

I have Mail Folders with Sub Folders with auto moving to folder rules.
When the folders are collapsed, I do not get the notification on the main folder. Due to which I could not know if I have any unread or I have a new email in any of the folder.

Some messages not appearing in Folders after 'Move To' and can only be found using Search - so where are they?

Child folders containing un-read e-mail count is not reflected in the parent folder when the parent is collapsed. The only way to check for un-read e-mail is to open the parent folder. That could be tedious when there are a large number of child and parent folders in the In Box.

Outlook web access - It'd be great if there was somewhere on the site when looking through emails that had the total number of emails in the inbox - just like the desktop Outlook.

Directories (if not expanded) should show that some subdirectories contain unread messages. Currently having subdirectories does not make any sense because every time I have to expand a directory to see if a subdirectory has some new messages.
idea - like gmail.
In the title of the webpage, I suggest adding the number of unread messages. Right now, there's no visual indication that I have a new message waiting if I'm in another tab.
browser: firefox current version.

Hi, It would be really good to be able to see how many emails are in each folder (including the inbox) with a number at the top... thanks

Provide a count of unopened items in folders and subfolders at the parent folder level. For example, if I have a folder called "Social" and a subfolder under that called "Facebook", the unopened email count that shows next to Social will add up the unopened items in both Social and Facebook. When you click the dropdown to see what subfolders are in Social, you would see the actual unopened emails only in Social, and actual unopened emails in Facebook. So if there was one unopened in Social, and 5 in Facebook - when the Social folder was closed up it would show 6 as the unopened count, but when the folder was opened to show subs, Social would show 1, and Facebook would show 5. Currently, if you have unopened items in a subfolder, you can only see this by opening the parent folder. At a minimum, the parent folder should display a breadcrumb or dot or something letting you know one of its subs has unopened items. Thanks!
Give me a count of the number of objects in a given folder, such as the inbox or my custom folders.
You should provide the total number of messages in my inbox. Like every other email provider on the planet.
The Inbox new mail count doesn't refresh automatically, can that be changed? Currently i have to refresh the whole page for it to show me new emails.
Offer a total email count once in a folder.
