Preview Pane - Options to disable, resize and move locations
I am very fond of my privacy and am not happy about the fact that everything shows a preview. (even with the 'Hide reading pane' option selected) Please implement the option te let us choose wether or not we want our e-mails to be previewed!
e.g.: The first e-mail in my private inbox folder is an e-mail with pictures of a new bra my wife bought, of wich she is very proud.
When I then am sitting next to my coworker and open Outlook to show him the pictures of my fishing trip last weekend, my wife's new bra is not the catch I was hoping to show off to my coworker.
Thanks you very much for using outlook.com and for taking the time to provide all of the great feedback. I wanted to take a moment to let you know that there are now some additional options that should address the feedback in this posting.
1) You are now able to disable or enable the Reading Pane. This can be done right from the Quick Settings Menu. Just click the Gear in the top right
2) You are also able to change the location of the reading Pane. Instead of Just to the right you can also select on the bottom. Again this is found under the Gear menu in the top right.
3) Also, some folks have asked to make sure that no message is selected by default when you sign-in to Outlook.com. This setting is also an option.
To select that follow these steps:
Click the Gear in the Top Right
Scroll to the bottom of the Quick Settings Pane and select View all Outlook Settings
This should open the Full Settings and have Selected Mail and Layout. On the Layout portion scroll down to the Reading Pane section. There is an option called What do you want us to do when you sign in? Here you can select two options.
Hope this helps!
You either sacrifice the preview or the content, which in some cases I wouldn't mind but if I'm reading a long email it gets in the way
I like the big preview on the right it's a big improvement, however the small preview in the list of mail itself is quite annoying. Personally I just like having a list of mail with the Sender name, title and it being bold if unread. Keep it simple!

I don't like to have the preview at the right, I like it at the bottom and I failed to find the configuration for that. Also advertising is robbing a lot of space, it would be better to have it at bottom also but I think that that will be something I cannot ask for the free version...
I don't like having the preview email on the right hand side. Let me click into the email and then open it up fully. Will there be a way to disable it?
My browser is usually in a vertically oriented (portrait) monitor, so there's really not room for the preview panel to the right of the message list.
Do not show attachment previews in the inbox. They take up too much room. An icon indicating an attachment is sufficient.
I don't want a preview of EVERY email I put cursor on . I want to see more # of emails each screen.
I think the Beta looks great! However there are a couple things I do not care for. The first one is the 'Favorites' menu at the top of the first vertical menu. Please make this an option that you can either delete if not wanted or hide. I do not use Favorites and prefer the rest of my folders to be brought to the top of the vertical panel.
Second, give us the option to have or not have the message previewed in the far right vertical panel.
I do not like the preview panel at all. One click should open the email as normal. All I want is an efficient inbox with flags for important stuff and a easy flowing presentation. I think preview windows are 100% absurd.

Maybe there is a way to change the view, but I did not like having a preview of a message when I selected it for deletion. I particularly disliked having the preview pop up when I was flagging a phishing mail. It may not cause a problem, but any sort of processing on a message which may cause malware raises my concern levels.
I would use this new beta version if the ads-column was not so large, taking a big part of the screen so that the place for reading the mails is very small.
The preview area (right side of the screen), has a few problems for me. It can't be resized dragging the the limit border, and sometimes, the window become very small, without any reason.

If you don't know how to keep-it-simple why force the noise on users?
Distasteful. Try simplifying - if you can't design one, fire the ones and get the ones that can.
Go back to basics - KISS.

I cannot reduce the preview area of the mails, enlarging the space of the message list.

Need options for adjusting text/preview windows etc. Prefer everything to be smaller to fit more on screen. Especially important when I'm away for several days and have a ton of email to go through.

I wish there was a way to make the font smaller and get rid of the "yesterday" "this month" bars that show up in the middle of the previews, I'd like to be able to see more emails without so much scrolling.
My eyesight is good, but I understand not everyone would want this feature, I just wish I had the power to change this to a smaller size, and by quite a bit too.
Keep the email list tighter. Possibly with an opt-in option for preview plane, which does not load with slower connections. I prefer the current, compact version.
