Preview Pane - Options to disable, resize and move locations
I am very fond of my privacy and am not happy about the fact that everything shows a preview. (even with the 'Hide reading pane' option selected) Please implement the option te let us choose wether or not we want our e-mails to be previewed!
e.g.: The first e-mail in my private inbox folder is an e-mail with pictures of a new bra my wife bought, of wich she is very proud.
When I then am sitting next to my coworker and open Outlook to show him the pictures of my fishing trip last weekend, my wife's new bra is not the catch I was hoping to show off to my coworker.
Thanks you very much for using outlook.com and for taking the time to provide all of the great feedback. I wanted to take a moment to let you know that there are now some additional options that should address the feedback in this posting.
1) You are now able to disable or enable the Reading Pane. This can be done right from the Quick Settings Menu. Just click the Gear in the top right
2) You are also able to change the location of the reading Pane. Instead of Just to the right you can also select on the bottom. Again this is found under the Gear menu in the top right.
3) Also, some folks have asked to make sure that no message is selected by default when you sign-in to Outlook.com. This setting is also an option.
To select that follow these steps:
Click the Gear in the Top Right
Scroll to the bottom of the Quick Settings Pane and select View all Outlook Settings
This should open the Full Settings and have Selected Mail and Layout. On the Layout portion scroll down to the Reading Pane section. There is an option called What do you want us to do when you sign in? Here you can select two options.
Hope this helps!
Layout email preview too big (Contact/Subject); allow for single line view; omit contact button.
When view email folders, the individual emails are too bulky... allow for single line view as in older version and option to remove contact button to reduce clutter; thus, allowing a compact entry for each email.

I generally just use Hotmail for junk, ads, coupons. It's hard enough to navigate the current version. The Beta version doesn't flow well. The preview email is way too skinny. No thanks.

I don't like the preview screen and having everything smaller on the screen as a result of the 3 columns (plus ads since I don't pay for the email). I hope keeping the preview screen off remains an option. I also don't like that once a message is shown in previewed, it automatically is marked as read, so if I delete the message I was reading, the next one is automatically shown and marked as read even though I may not actually read it.

I'd like to see more of the e-mail in my message list before I click on an e-mail to open it
Feels very busy with the preview being shown in the left panel.
Always likes the single line for each email like previous inbox page

Make the preview email panel in a way you can select where it shoud be.

I like the preview of attachments on the inbox panel, but the 3 vertical panel layout makes the e-mail itself hard to read. if it could resize the e-mail to fiit on that panel it would be better, but still I think that if the preview of the content would only appear as an "pop up" box hovering the e-mail if you keep the mouse at it the third panel could go away and it would in fact be the best e-mail solution today.
Bit confusing, I didn't like the body of the email and the pictures and attachments showing up in the preview of the message. I wasn't sure where the options were to fix that.
As well as disabling conversations you need to also allow only subject lines to be shown no previews
(Also this feedback system is not very good - who chose Uservoice?), different password needed, different password rules_ not joined up people!
How can I remove the file/image preview from the list of messages. If people have images attached to their signature it previews the image, its also previews attachments (the file type). It makes the inbox look very messy. Also agree with the previous suggestion to remove the icon next to the user name with their user initials - its not clean.

The beta version is good except not getting too much space to preview selected mail due to AdChoices promotional pane in the right. Please provide an option to disable it or make it smaller. Rest UI is impressive.

In my office outlook, I can keep preview open, which is in a horizontal raw. One can keep 2- 3 or 4 lines in preview. Too many vertical pans create UN-comfort.
SUGGESTING TO ADAPT HORIZONTAL RAW STYLE PREVIEW. ONE CAN PUT OFF (SWITCH OFF) THE PREVIEW TOO.
I did not like that the preview is very small and it does not show up well.
showing the attachment like old version is good.
I don't want a preview panel in my email. If I want to read an email, I'll click on it.
Because the actual emails lined up are much bigger, I can see much fewer emails; even if I hide the preview text, I still can't see the vast number of emails I could before the update.

cant change where the preview panel is, i prefer it to be at the bottom. cannot remove conversation thread grouping. when moving items to a folder you cannot see the parent folder of the subfolder. i have subfolders with the same name and the parent name is different but do not know which folder im moving an item to. cannot easily access skype messages from the beta view. only tried it for a couple of hours and those findings were enough to put me off.
I dont need a "Outlook". It looks like Outlook. It would be helpful, if I could switch the inbox to another view (List with no preview as it was, List with preview etc.).
If I would use hotmail for businesspurposes it would be okay to have this view but I need it private. And in Private I don't want a Outlook-version.

Cant see full size emails, only seen in preview window which, if font used is quite large, is restrictive. On the whole though better
The email preview panel on the right is too big. Limiting the size of the message list where the veritical border can move is also not good as the email lists still remains too small compared to the email preview. i.e you should be able to adjust the width of the email list as far right as you would like, the current limit is approx only 1/3.
My current pinned emails at the top now takes up a full screen so I'm actually not able to view new emails unless I scroll down but this is more user preference as I pin a few emails at the top.
