Preview Pane - Options to disable, resize and move locations
I am very fond of my privacy and am not happy about the fact that everything shows a preview. (even with the 'Hide reading pane' option selected) Please implement the option te let us choose wether or not we want our e-mails to be previewed!
e.g.: The first e-mail in my private inbox folder is an e-mail with pictures of a new bra my wife bought, of wich she is very proud.
When I then am sitting next to my coworker and open Outlook to show him the pictures of my fishing trip last weekend, my wife's new bra is not the catch I was hoping to show off to my coworker.
Thanks you very much for using outlook.com and for taking the time to provide all of the great feedback. I wanted to take a moment to let you know that there are now some additional options that should address the feedback in this posting.
1) You are now able to disable or enable the Reading Pane. This can be done right from the Quick Settings Menu. Just click the Gear in the top right
2) You are also able to change the location of the reading Pane. Instead of Just to the right you can also select on the bottom. Again this is found under the Gear menu in the top right.
3) Also, some folks have asked to make sure that no message is selected by default when you sign-in to Outlook.com. This setting is also an option.
To select that follow these steps:
Click the Gear in the Top Right
Scroll to the bottom of the Quick Settings Pane and select View all Outlook Settings
This should open the Full Settings and have Selected Mail and Layout. On the Layout portion scroll down to the Reading Pane section. There is an option called What do you want us to do when you sign in? Here you can select two options.
Hope this helps!
I was not a fan of the images automatically loading. I feel like that is a security risk. Trojans can be embedded into images. Spammers would love the fact that their images are automatically loaded.
Instead of automatically loading the images in the preview, say X images and X attachments (things not images) Have the user click on the small text at the bottom of the preview to list and show thumbnails of the images.
ability to zoom in the reading panl

Take away the "in focus" and "others". I want an option where any mail you subcribe to doesn't end up in junkmail. A possibillity to accept mail from certain senders.
Too much bandwidth required to preview emails. Makes sorting more tedious.
I love simplicity and minimalism, the practical. This interface is confusing, and is not pretty, now the messages take up too much space in the tray, the preview of the message is literally the complete message. We don't need to see the entire message in the message list.
The previous version of outlook showed a simple list of messages, had: sender, title, half line of the content of the message and date ... all in a small and simple strip ... ah yes, and an icon that represented the attachment. It was simple and perfect for me. Maybe that just needed some vertical spacing between messages.
I think the interface would improve if you remove the circle and the attached images in the message list. You could also enable an option for users to configure the spacing between messages.
I would love to contribute some designs or graphic ideas to help improve the concept :) is there any mail where I can send them?
and thank you for your services <3
Outlook beta opened my email in a separate column which on my 13 inch laptop screen is cut off.
I actually really enjoyed beta. However, on a smaller screen I couldn't see the preview of my emails because of all the vertical panels. I liked the vertical panels but rarely fully open my emails, just preview them. Also, the beta never refreshed my emails so when I had a new email, even if I clicked on inbox it wouldn't reload. I would have to reload from the address bar.
Preview makes it difficult to see new messages. would be good to be able to toggle message preview
To much flash makes it to hard to use. I shouldn't only be able to look at a couple emails before I have to scroll. Sorting my email with out my input is idiotic, I have emails I need that don't come to focused. This is frustrating. I need to be able to be productive and not waste time trying to find things.

Make the font size of the mails and the number of preview lines adjustable.

I will still beta version but i want to know if eventually i can open emails in a single window instead of have only the preview
Selecting an e-mail,dubbel clicking for opening in the preview column, don't open de compleet e-mail. How can I see a compleet e-mail?
On Chrome, don't see message previews in the right side and can't open a message at all.

I'd like to be able to expand or resize the list and preview as much as i want.
Now I can't.
Also, I'd like to have the delete button on the preview
Would like the preview text in the message list when the reading panel is hidden to look the way it does when the reading panel is showing.
the preview boxes are too large, I like my messages as tiny lists to see them all at once
Ads killed it for me. They also took so much space which is something that does not abound in beta... If automatic previews are allowed, guys, you must think this through better. The preview panel (which is a welcome addition in my opinion) is disgracefully small, and the fact the user is unable to expand it almost drove me nuts.
Too much on the screen--the ads, the message, the preview, the folders. Too many verticals become distraction and limit the space for actually reading and replying. Keep It Simple Simple!
I need the ability to open a whole letter by clicking on a new message. Now there is only a preview, it's very inconvenient.
