Preview Pane - Options to disable, resize and move locations
I am very fond of my privacy and am not happy about the fact that everything shows a preview. (even with the 'Hide reading pane' option selected) Please implement the option te let us choose wether or not we want our e-mails to be previewed!
e.g.: The first e-mail in my private inbox folder is an e-mail with pictures of a new bra my wife bought, of wich she is very proud.
When I then am sitting next to my coworker and open Outlook to show him the pictures of my fishing trip last weekend, my wife's new bra is not the catch I was hoping to show off to my coworker.
Thanks you very much for using outlook.com and for taking the time to provide all of the great feedback. I wanted to take a moment to let you know that there are now some additional options that should address the feedback in this posting.
1) You are now able to disable or enable the Reading Pane. This can be done right from the Quick Settings Menu. Just click the Gear in the top right
2) You are also able to change the location of the reading Pane. Instead of Just to the right you can also select on the bottom. Again this is found under the Gear menu in the top right.
3) Also, some folks have asked to make sure that no message is selected by default when you sign-in to Outlook.com. This setting is also an option.
To select that follow these steps:
Click the Gear in the Top Right
Scroll to the bottom of the Quick Settings Pane and select View all Outlook Settings
This should open the Full Settings and have Selected Mail and Layout. On the Layout portion scroll down to the Reading Pane section. There is an option called What do you want us to do when you sign in? Here you can select two options.
Hope this helps!
Too much detail in what is supposed to be the list of headers makes the preview useless.
Also, I don't particularly appreciate the initials of the senders and the different colors associated with them: graphically confusing, redundant, a waste of space.
I don't like the preview pane default. Make it easy to toggle it off.
I need to determine what is junk without wasting time scrolling through in-depth previews of every email. Please leave the inbox as it was and we can easily sort through emails that do and do not need reading.

I hate having the preview pane on the side. Put it back under so I can read the message.

The outlook beta email preview column doesn't need to be so wide. I'd rather the reading pane was wider to avoid having to scroll every line of the email. Making the preview narrower would also allow me to have my folder list on the screen more easily has needed. I have a "24" inch monitor.
I can't control the size of the preview window! It's ANNOYING!
I don't want an automatic preview of emails when I open Outlook, as I usually delete all the spam/spoofs instead of opening it so as to not confirm my email address or show any interest in their schemes. Blocking a sender will not prevent them from sending email with a different address. Also, I still dislike the "focus" and "other" idea. I want all emails in one easy place. When I view on my mobile device, it doesn't show both options, so I cannot easily access ALL my messages on the go.

The interface got cleaner but I did not like the side message preview. Microsoft has to consider that many notebooks have 13 pimples or 7 inch tablets. For those users reading side message will compromise the text of the email.
bigger email area & smaller preview area would be better

Preview at the bottom, email list above, folders on the left. Always, Always. Make other options available has you see fit but please leave this option alone, and whatever you do don't remove it.
Also I am not able to view the whole Mail. I can only see the mail in the preview window, where I am not able to see the whole mail. I get very frustrated with this view!!!

The email preview area is too narrow. Would prefer if the email preview was below the inbox list, not next to it.
1) ITS TAKE TOO MUCH TIME FOR STREAMING.
2) ADVERTISEMENTS ON SAME PAGE, DISTRACTS MY MIND & MAKE THE EMAIL PREVIEW PAGE EVEN SMALL.
Can Outlook Beta let me open an email, not just preview it?????
I don't like that have to scroll both left and right and up and down to view my emails.
This could drive me to use another email system.
Scrolling from left to right is a issue that has been avoiding since the beginning of the internet.
The page should be able to adjust to my screen size so that I don't have to scroll in both directions to read the email
get rid of the inbox when I open an email
Previous mail with attach files does not show attachment
I can't see enough of the preview email on my screen! There is too much junk. I have a laptop and it's so annoying -- I hate this layout.
You can hide the preview pane while loading the site. Let the users choose whether they want the preview pane or not.

i like that you are trying to make it like office 365. one thing is, i want the emails to open up when i click on them, not like a preview. you can keep a preview, but thats not goit to help. need to go through the whole email. also reply is a big issue here. don't know why the reply button sends email to yourself. that was stupid.
