Contacts
In the old Outlook I had my contacts in categories. I could just type in that category and the names would come up. I no longer have that options. I have to now type in each name separately. Please return this feature. It was under manage contacts.

Tried Outlook.com a few years back. Ditched it because I lost my categories on contacts. Figured by now MS wuld have fixed this, so revisited my outlook.com account. Still no categories for contacts. Unbelievable!

categories needs to work in webmail, but doesn't...will likely ditch outlook.com unless this is added soon...

Microsoft desktop apps have evolved over many years to provide the things users need. If MS wants to move us to their cloud based apps then those apps need to provide the same things even if not in the same way - losing functionality isn't much of an incentive.

Need to add categories to People for sorting and grouping

I prefer the old way as well. It is essential for keeping personal and business contacts separate from each other. I really don't want my Aunt Betty clumped with my household repairman and the CEO of a company that I do business with.

Would like to be able to add a title to a contact and make that searchable. Months from now, I may not remember that John Doe was the electrician my neighbor recommended, but if I could put Electrician in a title field and search on it, I will be happier.// Would also like to be able to assign categories to people, such as "church", "service providers", etc.

This must be addressed in some way. I cannot group my contacts by any criteria in outlook.com. The only viable way is creating Folders but by putting a contact into a folder means it will not be visible anymore in the root and, more problematic, in the contacts on a phone.

It doesn't make ANY sense... How is it that Outlook.com, is NOT completely compatible with Outlook? I find it insane that this is an issue. Part of my wanting to use Microsoft is so that everything works together. To have these not fully functional is mind boggling. GMAIL seems more compatible with Outlook. That needs to change.

Categories assigned to contacts are missing on contacts in Outlook.com (Web version).

I don't know if Microsoft is working on it already, but I would really like it to be possible to assign categories to Contacts.

I like the new Beta format. I use Outlook 2013 right now. Might switch to online. One thing I have in Outlook 2013 is my Contacts with Categories assigned to them. Then I can get a quick sort by the type of Contacts I want to see. Can that be added somehow and have it sync with the Outlook 2013 Desktop version so I don't have to reenter?
