Global unread email
Please bring back the global filter for unread email. It was there in the past. Now the unread filter only checks the inbox or one folder. I need the unread email folder that checks all folders, because most of my mail is automatically moved via rules. This refers to the web client, not the desktop app.

It doesn't even really need to be its own folder... I mostly just want an area where I don't need to constantly update my filter!
I also mentioned this here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_outlook-mso_other-mso_online/how-do-i-create-a-permanent-unread-folder-similar/0b519675-c0a6-473c-8f01-38cefabc2c7e?messageId=7111f7d2-303a-4d0a-bb00-35a9f4e26410

Don't get it why such an essentional function has not been included yet. This is the reason why I don't use the Outlook app on my Android phone.

Please please please bring this back! I've had to set up a mail filter rule to categorise all mail an 'unread' category just to get this behaviour, and now categories have been removed in this new beta version.
I will miss probably 80% of my mail without this functionality, a lot of this important mail too (like invoices etc)
This drives me crazy

I am also missing the "unread mail" filter and hope that it will be soon incorporated in the new beta version.
I had to create a filter that adds the category "unread mail" to all incoming mail. Then I created a search folder for that category. Now my outlook desktop opens into that search folder first.
Should not have to work around like this AND that only works for desktop version.
yes please add it soon, i already forwarded to gmail in the mean time but i hope msn/hotmail/outlook.com wil have simple unread filters for all the stuff unseen
really need that function.

This I think the last feature that Outlook 2016 has that Outlook.com doesn't (at least of the features I use), other than the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-D to delete messages.
If you apply some rules to automatically move emails in differents folders you have a notification on the folder but the unread filter stays at 0. When you have a lot of folders you constantly have to scroll your folders to be sure to not miss any email. That'ts make the rules pretty unusable; (it's the same in the non beta version)
