Turn off pop-up GIFs and emojis
Thanks for sending the beta version out. I'm not a fan of the pop-up GIFs and emojis. Is there a way to turn this off in the settings?
First off, thank you for using Outlook.com and for taking the time to provide feedback!
I just wanted to let you know that you can actually disable all of the Joyful Animations. To do so follow these steps
1) Click on the Gear in the top right hand corner
2) Click View All Outlook Settings at the bottom of the quick setting pane
3) Select Compose and Reply
4) Look for Joyful Animations. From here you can disable them if you want.
Hope this helps!

MS I am trying these steps, still get the nonsense emojis, what a terrible addition. Your new feature doubles my key stroke each memo/reply. More and More gmail gets it right. Stop trying to change things and just keep email simple, MS get new revenue in other areas. I an an old dog, but without us there would be no outlook online, young folks do not use your tools.
I am currently trying to email my major project to a college professor and every time I try to type out my list, this ******* sunglasses emoji replaces my A B C list "B)" This is a trash system.

Automatic emojis go straight to the trash for web outlook. I want peace without this rotten automatic emojis. I've been waiting for the DEACTIVATION of s*** emojis for yearsl >:(
Oulook 365 SUCKS. It is full of useless **** like the auto emoji and I can not stand the new layout. I am colorblind. No matter what theme I try nothing looks as clear to me as the old style. WHY would you add auto emoji and other major changes without letting users turn off to keep things they are used to and are productive with.
It is why Microsoft will continue to be less of a player...
When I invoke the emoji list in Sympatico or Bell email I can not close the pop-up after having made my selection. The pop-up continues to hide part of my draft email. I want to know how to close the pop-up without turning off the option to use them randomly, i.e. is still want the option.

how to i get the meme out of my emails. The new update to MAC outlook grabbed one I use for my son, and is sending it out in my work email.
how do I get rid of this emoji feature?

Please allow us to turn off emojis. They aren't compatible with all email services so I'm going back to the old school keyboard symbols and keep having to hit the Backspace button to get rid of the emoji that pops up. :( Thank you!
stop automatic emojis! i don't want my ;) to automatically be converted into an emoji within my emails!
I turned off my Joyful Animations and the GIFs still keeps popping up. Emoji's are fine but not the side bar with the GIFs (Expression) suggestions! I really don't need GIFs for my emails...it's more of a text thing anyways.

Is there any way to get through to you people. Read The Comments! The automatic highlighting and emoji options are EXTREMELY annoying to any adult attempting to send an email. Give us an option for going back to the old Outlook version that didn't include this ****. At the very least give us a way to easily turn off this asinine function so we can type a simple message without you telling us to choose a happy little emoji that expresses our feelings. Trust me, right now you don't want to know about my feelings toward Outlook and its stupid emoji offerings!
Please allow a setting to remove the automatic suggestion of smilys, emojis or gifs for key phrases, such as Thanks, or Thank you. I do not need my common phrase text to turn blue, suggesting me to insert flippant images. Those automatic suggestions make it very confusing to proofread drafts, and are often inappropriate for cordial e-mails.

stop forcing me to use gifs and emojis in my email. what is wrong with the people at Microsoft?
need the option to turn off emoji suggestions - it's very annoying
Please, please add a setting to turn off emoji auto-correct. I may be a little old-school, but when I type ":)", I want it to stay ":)", not turn into an odd style of emoji instead. It gets so annoying to do Control+Z every time, and it slows down my typing. Especially if I typed too fast and missed it the first time and have to go back--it makes me want to quit Outlook entirely just to get away from it. You have a lot of competitors when it comes to e-mail services. Don't stand out by being more annoying than they are.
Please make it possible to turn off the way typed emojis (eg. :) ) turn into the emoji pictures.

I love Outlook and am a long-time user. If you can't get these annoying emojis out of my way, I will probably switch to a different provider.

Settings -> View all Outlook Settings -> Compose and Reply -> Quick Suggestions : disable "Offer suggestions based on keywords in my message"
I believe this will disable all suggestions, so if you find any of them useful this will disable those too.
FWIW I also disabled "Joyful Animations" (same settings section) and "Insert Emojis and GIFs" under Customize Actions -> Toolbar. Not sure if these settings are strictly necessary for disabling the typing "suggestions", but in my environment they are not useful, are distracting and unprofessional.
I'm dumbfounded how MS doesn't understand what's appropriate in professional environments. Not everything is a high school social media environment.
TURN OFF THE STUPID HIGHLIGHT FOR IMOJI"S. You are bunch of idiots that don't know what it means to be professional. Grow up and stop thinking everything is a phone and used by teenagers.
