The new Outlook.com

I like the mode with the Reading Pane off

You turned it on for me... can you let me turn it off?

The Reading Pane takes up too much space on the right, and I want my previews to show up in an ordered way (right now it might be a little hard to tell which word belongs to which thing).

Thanks for trying the Outlook.com beta! We’re glad to inform that you can turn the Reading Pane off yourself by taking these steps:

1. Go to Settings (you should see the Quick Settings in the side pane)
2. Reading pane > Hide (it’s a radio button)

If this is the mode you prefer, go right ahead and personalize your Outlook.com that way!

Completely agree! It's much better to have a full screen listing the emails as it was and then, when you click on an email, for that to take up the whole screen. It makes it far too difficult to read, very inaccessible and far too cluttered. There was no need to change this at all.

The left panel with icons serves no purpose. These features are on the nine-dot menu. We should be able hide it.

I hate it. Give me back my old Hotmail. To cluttered and hard to read with so much junk added to the screen.

I don't really like the new look, but I could get used to it. I prefer the old one because they appeared many emails in the same screen, and now just a few. I may be just the fear of change. But yeah, now the space is much more limited, because it shares it.

I don't now if they are working in different aspects, rather than only focusing in the new look, because that is not important for my, I only need that it works. But yeah, any new upgrades are totally welcome, of course.

the beta setup now looks like email on my workstation PC which has Office 2016. I too used to resist the multiple screen splits as well as having 4 apps opened on my desktop at same time because I found it overstimulating and distracting. However, we need to get more comfortable with these default split sizes as it is becoming the standard. I still stumble but I am no longer fighting it and it has lessened my frustration & annoyance . Oh and there is no plot to force people to premium through discomfort that is just counterintuitive to their goal of attracting new customers and retaining existing customers.

I totally agree. I'm sure they've done it to try to force us to pay to upgrade to premium. They promise more screen space if you upgrade..

I also agree 100%. This beta is awkward & cumbersome. I hate it! I don't like anything about it.

The split vertical format is very difficult to use and read. You can only read a small portion of your subject and a small portion of your email at one time. English reads left to right, so a horizontal / full screen format is far easier to use and read. Old format is far superior to beta format. Thank you.

Seconded!! It just asked me to try the beta because it's been updated in relation to feedback, the moment I saw the split screen? NOPE back to classic.
If the final version has a split screen, or at least no option to turn a split screen off, I'll have to look for a new email service. I just HATE it. >.<

This beta is horrible. It reduces the size you can reead of the message to half. Absolutely pointless. I immediately reverted to the original format. I hope that you do not implimemt this cray idea.

On my computer the split screen made the opened email annoyingly small. Lots of scrolling to see everything, very annoying. I have a similar system in another email adress but there the message is bigger and more readable.
