  1. Make Dark Mode work with other Themes

The outlook.com dark mode is great start. Please make the Outlook.com Dark Mode even darker! Remove the blue title bar and all blue from the Dark Mode (at least give us the option). Blue light is bad for the eyes!

It appears the black theme is disabled for dark mode. We need a total blackout mode.

Hey, you can disable the persona icons (colored circles) by opening settings. Click the gear in the header, then click “View all outlook settings” in the settings pane at the bottom.

Then go to Mail > Layout > Sender image. Select “Don’t show sender images”.

    Hope this helps!

  3. Where did my Add-Ins go?

Switched to the beta and my add-ins were gone. Didn't like that, so I switched back.

Hi all – First off thanks for using Outlook.com and for providing all of this wonderful feedback.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the new Outlook.com Client experience does indeed have Add-ins back.

Hope this helps out! Please keep the feedback coming. We truly do read it all and prioritize our work based on it!

First off, thank you very much for all of the great feedback. I just wanted to circle back and let you know that we introduced a ton of settings around configuring the layout of the new outlook.com experience.

You can disable a lot of the new options all from the quick settings. For example, you can disable the reading pane, conversation view, sender photos, etc.

Just log into your account, click the gear in the top right, and from the quick settings pane you can do a ton of easy simple config changes.

    hope this helps!

Thanks for the feedback. If you are not a fan of viewing both the mail list, and the reading pane at the same time, we have a setting for that!

From within the beta do the following:
    1) Click on the Gear in the top right.
    2) Under the Reading Pane section, select Hide.

This will get you back to the Message list only view. Hope that helps!

I am so very upset that you have now forced the beta client on us without the slightest consideration for those of us that do NOT want our mail client looking like a giant cartoon. If you include themes, then why not include one that emulates the old client? Duh! I don't need initials when I can read the name, I don't need colors. (have you ever considered how this messes with colorblind people?) And I need the ability to adjust the font size without changing my browser size. I'll give you some time to fix this. I am paying…

Good morning, I just wanted to take a minute and thank you personally for providing feedback about the new Outlook.com experience, and even more importantly picking Outlook.com as your email provider.

I did want to let you know that the new features that we have introduced are all able to be disabled if you are not a fan of the circles and colors. I wanted to provide you some steps. Once you have these items disabled it should look very similar to your old experience.

First click on the gear in the top right. This will open up the Quick Settings Pane. From here I would recommend trying to toggle off the following. As you turn them off the screen behind will update so you can see what is changing.

    1) Sender Photos (this is the colored circles)
    2) Sort by Date – This removes the date headers (Today, Yesterday,…

  7. Spell check in Outlook

Spell check used to be available in other ealier Outlook versions. Why not now?

Thank you to everyone using Outlook.com and for providing feedback. We wanted to let you know that as of today we have enabled spelling and grammar checking provided by Microsoft Editor for Chrome and Edge browsers (Firefox & Safari support to come soon). To access these suggestions, simply left click on the underlined text.

As you type, you will get underlines in red or blue denoting spelling and grammar suggestions, respectively. For users with a premium or M365 account, you will also have access to writing refinement suggestions such as clarity, conciseness, and formality denoted by purpled underlines.

To customize which types of suggestions show up, select the “Editor” button in the compose ribbon and select or deselect suggestion types. Or alternatively in settings → Mail → Compose and reply → Microsoft Editor.

You can find more information about Editor usage in Outlook.com at: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/check-grammar-spelling-and-more-in-outlook-com-and-outlook-on-the-web-c6b1283d-81a2-47f1-bc85-9e8dfc0cbf15.

  8. Switch Mail/Calendar/People/Photos/Tasks buttons back to horizontal instead of vertical

While I believe this layout is an improvement overall, I think having the Mail/Calendar/People/Photos/Tasks buttons going vertical in the lower left corner should be changed back to horizontal and at the bottom of the folder pane. Having one section just for these adds wasteful white space on the left that takes away from listing folder trees, and it is not consistent with the experience across Calendar and People, as they switch back to horizontal when switching apps. This also doesn't match behavior in Outlook desktop client that most end-users are trained for. Please switch that view back, or at least…

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate that you took the time to write to us.

You might enjoy the new Outlook experience more with a few changes to your settings, which you can find by clicking the gear icon. Try changing the setting for Conversation view to Off, changing the setting for Reading pane to Hide, and changing the setting for Attachment preview to Off.

We’re always interested in new ideas, but we need some more specific feedback to fix the problem for you. If you have more detailed suggestions, please update your idea or add a new one.

  10. Don't show the Splash screen each time

If you're trying to chase me away from using Outlook, you're on the right track. Do I have to click to remove the popup announcement about the "improved" Outlook every single time I sign in? Do all the swell new features you crow about cause the extreme slowness of the system? Do you think people might not want your brilliant innovations forced on them, they're happy with things as they were?

Hello all – I just wanted to provide a quick update. We were able to get a patch pushed out which disabled the spalsh screen that some of you were seeing on each login.

You should not be seeing the issue any more. However, I do want to let you know that it is highly likely that you will see it one more time in the coming days. As the fix to the bug roles out it will trigger the screen just one more time.

Thank you for reporting this issue, and sorry for the annoyance it caused!

    Thanks

    David Los

  11. See more emails and not more advertising

Please, don't add advertising on our page of outlook or, if it's not possible, put them on the right side of the emails and very thin, so that way we will be able to see a lot of the emails that we have received and not only one or two as now.

Thanks for using outlook.com and providing the great feedback! We are constantly looking at ways of improving our ad experience. I did want to let you know that if you have an Office 365 subscription, you actually do get an Ad Free Outlook.com experience as well as more space!

Thanks for the feedback and please keep it coming.

  13. Delete button moves when selecting emails

When selecting an email via the check box, the "Delete" button moves and it's location is then occupied by the "Archive" button.
The half second delay on this movement means I already have the mouse button over "delete", but as I click it moves and I end up archiving instead.

  14. The delete button is not working properly!

When I click in the delete button of a message, the message is deleted but the page doesn't refresh. I have to do this manually.

A few days ago it was working properly.

First off, thank you for using Outlook.com and for taking the time to provide feedback!

I am sorry for any bugs or problems you hit in the new Outlook.com experience.

We have been working hard to address these issues. I just tested and confirmed that I am not seeing this problem any more.

Can you give it another try and report back by opening up a new feedback thread or contacting support from within Outlook.com?

    Thanks

    David Los

  15. I don't like it at all.

This is horrible. It takes up the whole screen, I can't run any other pages or work on any other documents. Please go back to the old version before I start missing deadlines and going crazy.

Thanks for your feedback! In order to log out, click on the profile icon in the top right corner of the window. This is a round icon with either your profile image or your initials.

When you click this icon, a pane will expand. “Sign out” is one of the options on this pane.

  18. My coworker accidentally unchecked "Try the beta" and now she can't get it ack

My coworker and I accessed the Outlook beta via the direct URL, but she accidentally unchecked "Try the beta". Now when she tries to re-access the beta via URL, it will flash the beta theme, then go back to the old theme. This is noted in a few blog posts, including on the Verge: "Don’t untick the “try the beta” toggle though, as this will permanently remove you from the beta interface, even with this workaround."

Is there anyway to get this back?
