The new Outlook.com

Make it less cluttered

I didnt like it. I don't like how much more difficult this is getting to navigate and cluttered it is. I miss hotmail. Simple. Effective. You can see the emails, organize them, get to them. Same with your contacts thats ALL that an email service is supposed to do, all that we need it to do.

We’ll send you updates on this idea

First off, I just want to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time and providing feedback on the new Outlook.com experience. I totally appreciate that updates can often be frustrating when things change. I also want to thank everyone that has provided feedback over the course of the Beta to ensure that we address feedback.

With that being said, I do want to offer some types/advice on some options that you can select to get a view that is more in line with the old experience. This includes turning off the Colored bubbles :)

First click on the Gear in the top right hand corner. This will load the Quick Settings Pane. This pane includes all of the key features that are likely different between the old experience and the new experience.

To get a view that is similar to the old view I would turn off the following: Conversation View, Reading Pane (set to Hide), Sender Image (these are the colored initial circles), Group by Date (these are the date headers in the message list), and finally Attachment Preview.

Once these are off, the view should look VERY similar to the old experience.

Again please keep the feedback coming, the entire team is reviewing every submission and we are working on bringing additional improvements.

Some of these include, Density settings (this will help those that want a more compact view), updated spam/junk settings, Chat improvements, and much much more.

Thanks again for using Outlook.com!

David Los

Exactly! The last version would atleast ask if we want to change to a new version. This time it just force us to change to beta version without asking... I don't really like that either.....

Feedback! The only thing you need to know is that your recent change to Outlook is now an appalling waste of time, full of unnescessary "gimmicks" at the expense of time trying to find how to access stuff. I cannot find my filed emails now. Why change a good system when this new one is of no help at all. Far from being quicker it it three times longer to work out. Get my files back please!

I hate the beta version, emails so spaced out, can't scroll down quickly to get to older emails, too cluttered, please don't force me to use this horrible new beta format.

this is now horribly cluttered and 'busy' it is just
awful. Go back to how it was.
You seem to make changes for no good reason.

there's too much information being shown at once, it's hard to get an overview. e.g. Don't show the attached file, just show me that there is a file attached to the e-mail

I would like to continue to have the look and feel of what I have had. I find the new screen to be cluttered and it shows many fewer emails than the old one does. I HATE the fact that I have to learn something new on a regular basis. Can you not have an outlook lite that retains much of what is there in the original now?? I don't want to ALWAYS having to accept the upgrade when I have been extremely happy with what I have had. There are NO words to express the frustration I feel when these things are imposed on me and I have NO choice in the matter. I even tried purchasing Outlook some time back - but it was ever so much worse than the original and lots of functionality had been lost or sacrificed to the 'new and better' which, in my opinion wasn't to I sent it back. Put a toggle on the screen that allows one to make their OWN choice always!

This Outlook looks too cluttered. I don't need all my emails to have big coloured dots showing who they are from. I can't see the forest for the trees. Hope you know what I mean.

EVEN THE FOLDER ICONS ARE WRONG NOW! When a list of folders is closed the icon used to be an "down" arrow. When the folders were all displayed, you clicked on an "up" arrow to roll them back up.

Now, when the folders are closed, there's an > sign, and, when you want to "roll them back up" you push the DOWN arrow! What sort of illogical horse pucky is this?!

Very disappointed with the new cluttered layout for Outlook. A big step backwards in functionality. It looks like accessing a mobile app on a computer screen.

Microsoft STOP changing things that actually work. I want Outlook.com CLASSIC back. Also, KEEP Windows Phones - get RID of *************************.
