Add Preference to Disable/Enable Left-Right Swiping in Mailbox
Users with a Magic Mouse/TrackPad have likely experienced, as I have, that when selecting messages in a mailbox (Inbox, drafts, Sent, etc.), it is far too easy to swipe left or right and show the options to "Delete" or "Archive" a message. I'm sure this is necessary on a mobile device, but on a desktop device using an input like Magic Mouse, it is really annoying. It could also be potentially dangerous if you accidentally Delete or Archive a message unknowingly.
There should be an preference/option to disable that swiping gesture from the message list.
We now have the ability to customize gestures or even disable them! Available in Outlook 16.11 and above. See here for details – https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Outlook-Blog/Outlook-for-Mac-now-supports-swipe-gesture-customization-in/ba-p/158208

Even when scrolling through mail, I have almost deleted important messages - this really does need to be changed

Please add a disable button - I too have accidentally or almost archived/deleted messages.

Please stop making moronic design and UX decisions like these. What were you people thinking??? Seriously Microsoft... disable the feature by default on desktops and allow to enable only if user decides so.

Please add a disable button ASAP -- I've accidentally archived/deleted messages without even realizing it as I'm scrolling through my messages with the magic mouse.

Definitely needs a way to turn this off. Way too sensitive when using a Magic Mouse.
1. Swipe then click takes more effort than just a simple click.
2. Also, slight gestures make it begin to open the swipe, then you cannot click.
Maybe a two finger swipe would be safer, and remove the second click required.

I use a magic mouse exclusively on my MacOS systems. I have inadvertently deleted far too many emails due to this feature. When I have noticed, I have been able to retrieve the accidentally deleted emails, however I am afraid to think of how many messages I have deleted from my Inbox that I have not even noticed!
Please provide a preference to enable/disable it.
Please, please, please create a way to disable this one.

Please provided an option to disable this feature (swipe right to delete or left to archive an e-mail). Really, please, please, please.
Please please remove this feature or at least allow us to disable it. The sensitivity of the Magic Mouse means that is tries to swipe on nearly every click.
The Magic Mouse is so sensitive that this function makes me very nervous. I think for some the new feature is convenient, but I want thw option to opt out of it.
Are you people for real. Why not just add a 'delete mail on a whim' - wait - you did !!!
Getting us the option to remove this "feature" should be top of mind for you

This ought to be a very simple request for Microsoft — add a checkbox in the Prefs to disable swipe-to-delete. Very simple. I don't understand the need to vote on it. They could update this today if they wanted.

I absolutely hate this feature. Using a Magic mouse it's a real pain trying to go through my mail. Please add a way to disable it.

This feature is an INBOX DESTROYER if you use a magic mouse/mac.
It forces an unusual amount of "stop and consider" thought on any of the, what used to be, following friction-free gestures:
* Scroll Up via Magic Mouse
* Scroll Down via Magic Mouse
* Jump to top of scroll view via magic mouse
* jump to bottom of scroll view via magic mouse
It also adds a fairly significant amount of delay when the swipe is accidentally triggered via magic mouse.
The combination of delay and thought that this feature introduces via magic mouse forces a ton of messages that accidentally get deleted or archived when the user just wanted to scroll. If the swipe action triggers the SwipeUI (which isn't always apparent to the user) and then the user ends up thinking they are triggering the SCroll UI... Good bye message.
PLEASE add a way to disable!
Agreed, I dislike this feature as well. It seems quite prone to registering inadvertent swipes when scrolling through the email list. Really surprised there are no "Swipe options", like there are in Outlook on Android, where you can disable this.
This should be added

This is not a feature, but a HEADACHE for many users!
Emails being Deleted or Archived inadvertently, just because this was not fully thought through... Little reminder: new "features" should always come with Preference Options!
YES, this is a horrible feature that can't be disabled. A small swipe to the right brings up the Delete box, but a big swipe to the right and the email's gone without any "are you sure?" dialogue.

Totally agree, there should be a way to disable this feature.
It works fine with the TrackPad - which requires a two-finger swipe to work, and it doesn't work at all with a Mighty Mouse, but the Magic Mouse functionality is horrible, not only can you inadvertently delete or archive a message, but because the mouse is so sensitive, it slides left or right as soon as you touch it, which makes lef-clicking or right-clicking a message really, really difficult.
I raised a support call with Microsoft and the engineer confirmed there's no way to disable this feature, however he sent me the URL to this thread, asked me to add my opinion, and confirmed they're monitoring the conversation to determine whether to make the feature optional in the future...
Absolutely agree. Recently started using a Magic Mouse and the swipe feature in Outlook is driving me batty. It would be a huge benefit to be able to turn on/off in preferences.
