Ability to set default From address
In outlook.com, there's a new Premium feature for Home and Personal which allows you to connect your custom (GoDaddy only) domain into outlook.com to give you personalised email addresses. Details are at
So, now your personal email is fully integrated with outlook.com, windows mail and outlook, with no "sent on behalf of" problems. However, Outlook is missing the feature to set a default From address. outlook.com has the "default from" setting, Windows Mail remembers the last address you sent from, but Outlook always defaults to the profile address. Outlook needs the ability to set the default From address to one of the known aliases.

This! This!!! Thanks! I'm an end-user with no knowledge of Visual Basic scripting. Please, fix this. I'm on Microsoft 365 Personal and the official support page warn us against using the customized address as our main alias, so I'm stuck with my "outlook.com" address. English isn't my native language, but I have this exact same problem.

I guess a temporary workaround coud be to create event handlers in VBA that changed the reply-to field. Have anyone looked into that?

I would also add that this is not just for outlook.com accounts but any (Office 365/Exchange/outlook.com) accounts with aliases, where a user may want to, for whatever reason, choose to use an alias that is not set as the default for their email account.

This is a major issue with the way that the new outlook.com personal domains works.
In the old Outlook.com Premium service, you could have the personal email address set as the Primary Account for your Microsoft Account, and this would work perfectly for all applications including Outlook Desktop.
Now, with the supposedly improved service, if you have your personal account set as the Primary Account you get the issue of the email account appearing as "outlook_[long series of letters and numbers]@outlook.com" (also a request in UserVoice to fix this issue). You are therefore forced to set the Primary as an @outlook.com address, and then each time you compose an email in Outlook for Windows you have to set the default correctly! This is even more of an issue now that the legacy users of the old Premium service are being forced to migrate to the new service!
There appears to be A COMPLETE lack of joined up thinking across the various teams on this --- given that the forced migration effectively is breaking users accounts, both issues (defaults and personal account names) should be fixed as a matter of urgency (ideally on both sides)... or, if this is not feasible, there should be an option to simply NOT install Outlook Desktop as part of Office 365 Home/Personal.

Provide an option to set a default e-mail address from which you send e-mails - if you have access to several e-mail addresses, it would be a good thing to have a setting, where you can set a default e-mail address from which you want to reply to messages (no matter what e-mail address that message was sent to).

Cannot understand why MS offer Personalised Email Address service if it doesn't work in Outlook Desktop? To get the service you need to have Outlook Premium which needs an Office 365 subscription. Office 365 subscription includes desktop versions of Outlook, Word, Excel etc but when you connect your email to the Outlook Desktop version you don't get an option to send from your Personalised Email Address!

I have 3 email addresses, I get a choice as who to send it as. Can I make one of the default? If not, would be nice to have that feature
