The ribbion tool bar
The ribbon tool bar is too large and taking up too much of my screen. Also the icons on the ribbon bar are too large. The colour range does not have enough choice. The older ribbon bar was much better on office 2010 and has gone south in my opinion. I hate the new ribbon bar and the feel of the system. The system is not an improvement over office 2010

Lots of comments here on the size of the Ribbon, which I agree with. A suggestion: allow us to make the icons zero pixels high/ wide, and use labels (words) instead. For the longest time I thought there was no command in the ribbon to open the address book; finally discovered it was there, but 1) the icon was indecipherable (sort of like the Egyptian hieroglyphics before the discovery of the Rosetta Stone), and 2) there was no label. Words work, icons don't.

The old menu (prior to the Ribbon) was just right in this respect; it collapsed into a single line of text when you weren't using it. When the Ribbon first came out, it too could be collapsed by default. But now, with the simplified toolbar, there doesn't appear to be any way to collapse it completely; the icons are always there. And to add insult to injury, the choice of icons in the simplified toolbar is useless for me. What good is an always visible icon for "Get Add-ins" when I'm on my company's locked-down Outlook, and couldn't install add-ins even if I wanted to? Or the Delete icon; that's what God made the Delete key for. Etc. etc. Useless icons in the simplified toolbar, useful icons hidden by default, and I can't even close the simplified toolbar!
*Please* don't decline this change on the grounds that you've done lots of user testing, and these tests show blah blah (as I've seen with other highly voted suggestions). If your user testing doesn't agree with what's on this uservoice website, then I think s.t.'s wrong with your user testing.

The new ribbon is a terrible idea. I need as much screen "real estate" as possible to compose lengthy professional research reports and legal briefs. The new ribbon makes my 13 inch screen much less useful; I can only work (now) by hiding the new (ugly) ribbon.
Since I actually use the ribbon to speed up formatting steps, hiding and un-hiding it really slows me down. It seems whoever dreamed up the new ribbon appearance doesn't know about 13 inch 4K screens, the needs if writing professionals using this equipment or how to maximize the usability of software applications.
It's easier for me to use Google Docs rather than Word 2019 (purchased, not 365 subscription). Why did Microsoft mess-up it's excellent Word interface to make it look like a toy for children? Word needs to remain a writing tool for professionals.
The new ribbon is a very, very bad move and quite disappointing.

I care less about the appearance of the icons and more about their size and the amount of real estate that take up on my screen. Unpinning the ribbon to use and then go find the item I need defeats the purpose of the ribbon (it also reverts back to it's previous view when unpinned and dropped down). I just want an option to make it (and the icons on it) smaller. Much smaller. There is also a lot of dead white space on the ribbon.
If anyone has a way to change back please let me know.

My quick steps now require two steps; one to click the drop-down menu and another to click the task. Why mess with people's work platform.

The new RIBBON BAR SUCKS, to put it bluntly. It takes up way too much room and the icons are ridiculous! This is the worst user interface change in a long time in my opinion. Just put it back the way it was or let me choose. This looks like a vision-impaired version.
I also don't want to see new,. cutsy icons introduced. We have used the old ones for years and there is no need from someone to change them just for the sake of change. The new > icon for SEND is one of those that did not need to happen. It is less informative and there was nothing wrong with the way it was. I would like to just backout this update!!

Replace ribbon bars with standard menus and toolbars. The logic behind your ribbon bars is completely faulty.
eg. When I create a task, I need to define the task by setting its category and reminder time, prereminder that kind of thing. These should be settings in the body of the reminder ITSELF not in a ribbon bar.
If you put them into the ribbon bar, logic dictates that they are actions you can perform on the task. Settings/attribute are not actions they are ATTRIBUTES!
I don't want to PERFORM something on the task like change its' colour (which should be in the subject line of the task and changeable by clicking on it, not in the ribbon bar, remember the colour DEFINES the task it is NOT AN ACTION you perform on the task as is what the ribbon bar should be used for making it into a menu which is what it should be in the FIRST PLACE)
You need to learn the difference between an ACTION (menu item) and a PROPERTY (a setting IN the item). This logic applies to all applications known to man yet you insist on corrupting logic by using this obscene confusing concept called a ribbon bar. have you not realised that NOBODY ELSE IN THE INDUSTRY USES THEM and the at is for a REASON!!! Stop flattering yourself and thinking it is because you have something useful and unique. YOU DON'T ! You have created a f*ck up and yes, that is unique and nobdy wants it. Do you know that Thunderbird and Libre Office are easier to use because they have menus and toolbars, say the words please, repeat after me: mouth them slowly t-o-o-l-b-a-r m-e-n-u, worky worky. Ribbon bar ****** ******!
Why am I have forced to pay for a subscription just so I can use your exchange email system? Charge me £1 for the email and ***** the rest of your Office disaster package thank you until you come back to me and provide a menu and toolbar option. BECAUSE THAT IS IT WHAT WORKS! THAT IS WHAT PEOPLE WANT! Stop being so arrogant and forcing **** down people's throats.

I too want the ribbon bar back. with the menu bar. How do you edit now/ Not everyone has office 365. Most people dont if you dont work for a large company.
I wish you would stop getting rid of an older system when you introdiuce a new one so we have a choice. My next computer will be a MAC they are so much more user friendly -

I agree with all other posters regarding the look, size, and lack of options for the Ribbon. In addition to the fact that they are too big and take up WAY TOO MUCH work space with no option to resize, the lack of ability to remove main specific commands under the default headings without deleting the entire heading! (i.e. In Outlook Home (Mail) Delete tab, I'm unable to just remove "Archive" and "Clean Up" while keeping "Ignore," "Junk," and "Delete." Thank you for allowing users to provide feedback, and I look forward to hopefully seeing some updates soon, as it seems that many professionals using 365 are unhappy with the current Ribbon.

I agree. And my problem is that the mailadress of the sender is disapperaring partly behind the answer buttons on the right top site. It is hard to see if the mail is spam.

Very disappointing and counter-productive. I have moved to 365 and spend a lot of time in Excel. When I use the ribbon by floating the mouse over it, the size is reasonable, but if I pin the ribbon it becomes too large. Doesn't make sense and obviously has not passed any type of user acceptance testing. I hope there is a fix coming to this as it is impacting office productivity.

Microsoft, people have been complaining about the ribbon for nearly ten years. Why won't you allow us to customize the size? It is much larger now than ever! It's unbelievable how much real estate this thing needlessly consumes.

We've been using Access 2003 for our database product with over 5,000 users at 900 locations. We're updating to Microsoft Access 2013. But the Menu Bar is huge! We simply want to see our macro menu items across the top under our Title Bar. Instead, 1/5th of the screen is Ribbon and more than half (the bottom half) of that is blank! I've tried all of the work-arounds suggested. Nothing is acceptable. Our product should look like OUR product, not Microsoft Office. We don't need "File, Home, Add-ins, Tell me what you want to do. Our clients will revolt if they have to hit Cntrl F1 a thousand times a day. We simply need a nice menu bar for our menu items. Please make the height customizable at the least.
We want to update, but this is unacceptable. -
