Recurring meetings: Option to end recurrence and preserve prior meeting occurrences
I'd prefer to keep the history of my past tasks and whereabouts, so I would like an option to "remove only future meetings in this series"
Provide a feature to cancel a recurring meeting with future meetings only and don't lose the history on the Calendar.

In addition to cancelling a meeting as described above. I'd like to be able to delete (as a participant from my own calendar) all future sessions without deleting the history from my calendar. There are times when I am no longer part of the meeting, or the organizer has left the company, so it would be easiest if I could delete the current and all future instances.

@Steve C, the thing with recurring meetings is, that sometimes one single occurence is cancelled (i.e. during a holiday) or rescheduled (other time, duration, or even another day). Those adjustments can be done for the individual occurrence of the meeting. However, if, later on, you want to change the end date of the series, all the adjustments on single occurrences done before will be lost. By applying such a change, your future agenda is in sync with what you want, but your history in your agenda is not anymore. Therefore the additional ability to only delete future meetings of a recurring meeting would be really added value!

When a recurring meeting is being canceled and "remove(d) from calendar", previous sessions are also deleted.

To achieve the same at the moment, the organizer has to go to recurrence and input an end date - The above suggestion could be combined with a dialogue box when cancelling a recurring meeting to chose from "cancel series" or to "end recurrence"

You can end a recurring meeting and preserve the history by simply changing the 'Range of Recurrence' to End by a certain date. This removes the future occurences and leaves the past ones in your calendar. Not sure it needs an additional special feature to do this.

It's not nice to get trapped by this. Until this is fixed, the only customization to a single meeting in a series should be delete. Being forced to create a new meeting for customization is better than losing important information later when the series is updated.

@joseph while looking for a way to do this, I found that the problem has been occurring since 2011; not just 2016.... time to make it happen, cap'n!!!!

Even Notes can do this and have had this option for many years!

AGREED! This is ridiculous! I cannot use the recurring feature ever again, because if I do and need to make adjustments to a date here or there, I LOSE ALL OF THAT if I ever need to end the recurrence. Maybe years in the future! THIS IS SO STUPID AND ANNOYING!

Please please please make an option for only deleting future dates of a recurring event! It's a major problem for so many not to have this!

People have been asking for this since 2016.... why has there not been any updates or change? If Google can do it, Microsoft should be able to do it

Agreed, this is a much needed, much overlooked feature. It seems that Microsoft is just lazy if they cannot come up with this feature.

Please incorporate an ability to change / update all FUTURE appointments in Outlook. It's absurd that the FREE version of Google Calendar has this service figured out, it's SO useful and would probably be an easy fix for the programmers in the back. Please make this correction, it's really annoying and inconvenient.

It has been a known issue for many years.
Microsoft, please provide feedback.

I manage a large multi-million dollar project that involves a lot of web meetings that I host. I often reference Outlook when reporting to the sponsor and those reports are critical to demonstrating that we deserve continued funding. This isn't just a matter of convenience or time efficiency for me, as important as those are. It is surprising that MS hasn't bothered to fix this when other platforms preserve the historical record in spite of changes to the end date. I am looking into using the other platforms now. MS has known about the problem for many years and is clearly not going to address it.

I agree that this is needed asap. I want to cancel/end the recurring meeting series but not lose all of the amendments that I made to the previous entries such as rescheduled meetings.

I often have recurring meetings/appointments in my diary and there are times when I want to delete future invites and re-send on a different date/time, but want to leave historical invites in the diary so I can go back to check them if needed. Currently I believe if I delete a recurring appointment, it deletes past appointments as well.

Why can Gmail cancel "This and all future occurances" without resetting the series but outlook cannot? Especiallly in a business or enterprise version. This is needed badly

I need to be able to edit one instance in a series without it changing everything in the series. I had my whole department switch to Outlook when our email did but this one factor is creating wayyyyyy more work for everyone and I have to now have them switch back to google!

It would be nice to be able to delete future events of a recurring event instead of "Delete the Series", which removes everything. Yes, this can be done by manually going into each event and setting an end date, but it would be faster to have this new feature.
