Recurring meetings: Option to end recurrence and preserve prior meeting occurrences
I'd prefer to keep the history of my past tasks and whereabouts, so I would like an option to "remove only future meetings in this series"
Provide a feature to cancel a recurring meeting with future meetings only and don't lose the history on the Calendar.

Agreed, This is the most glaring issue with Outlook. Deleting future occurrences of a series is very important - for both participants and the originator of the meeting. As a participant, I want to be able to stop attending a series and delete future occurrences, without losing my history.

Agree with Jeff. History needs to be maintained. Cancellations should be forward looking only.

Even if I DO want to end the meeting, I still lose historical data. The dates change on the calendar or the attachments disappear, or the recipient lists get overwritten.

This is definitely needed. It is not as simple as changing the end-date of the series, as any edits done to previous events are lost, which defeats the purpose of wanting to retain the previous events intact for historical record keeping purposes.

Yes please. ASAP. Stupid after all these years that this has not been added. Google calendar and many others have had this functionality for years!

Coming from a Notes background, I find it surprising that Outlook does not have this capability already.
It just makes sense that you would only want to modify future occurrences of recurring meetings, whether it be adding/removing an attendee, changing the room booking or even just altering the body of the meeting.I was told by a Microsoft Architect that Notes Calendaring was superior to Outlook and I have to wholeheartedly agree. Unusual given the maturity Outlook.

You can do that now. All you do is go and change the end date or put an end date in. The previous ones will remain and upcoming ones will be removed.

Restore this functionality from older versions of Outlook so as not to impact previous edits or past occurrences within a series.

I am not a Lotus Notes fan however the way it handles making changes within a series of reoccurring meetings is far superior in my estimation. One can make the change to all occurrences or just one (like in Outlook) however there are options to make changes to future, current & future and current & past. If make change to future meetings, only the fields changed are updated. If the meetings times in the series has exceptions or the meeting dates were individually selected (another good feature) changing one field leaves the rest alone - for example can change the meeting time but the dates selected for the meetings including exceptions remain as they are.

Many people would like to be able to review their calendars to see what meetings have occurred in the past. If a meeting organizer cancels or alters a recurring meeting it changes the entire series. This results in meetings that have already occurred in the past being deleted or moved. Currently, the only way I've found to get around this is to export the calendar, clear out all entries not related to the ones being changed, make any time zone adjustments, import the results and then finally accept the meeting cancellation.
It would make much more sense that when the meeting organizer changes a recurring meeting for it to prompt to only make the changes to future occurrences and leave prior ones alone. When cancelling the meeting series it should prompt individuals if they want to remove only future occurrences or all occurrences of the meeting.
I lost a bunch of calendar information before I discovered the export/import trick but that's pretty laborious for something that seems so simple. It's either that or manually delete each future occurrence of a cancelled meeting and refuse the cancellation notice but that's not practical if the organizer never set a series end date or its a few dozen occurrences in the future.

I agree, this should be a simple coding feature to implement whereby modifications to future instances of a series can take place without modifying historical appointments.
Please provide a solution with minimal clicks and make the process intuitive.

Clearly you have no intention of changing this - as the comments go back to early 2016. This is how you lose users and get a bad wrap. We've been promoting the move to Gmail for a years because OUTLOOK IS UNRESPONSIVE!

I can only add my agreement to the many comments already posted regarding schedule changes. This appears to be an easy item that creates a lot of frustration to users.

This is so obvious!
1. Meetings that has already happened should not be part of the schedule, since you don't schedule things that has already happened.
2. When the date/time of a meeting that is part of a schedule is past the meeting, then that meeting should be removed from the schedule and from now on only be "loosely" connected to the schedule that created it.
3. When you change a meeting that is part of a schedule you should get four options.
a) change this individual occurrence of the schedule
b) change all future occurrences (the selected one and all after it)
c) change the schedule, that is all occurrences from now and forward
d) change the schedule and update historic loosely connected meeting. If there are changes to the schedule that include or affect the time and/or recurrences of the meetings in the schedule, there should be a question when saving the schedule if or meetings that already occurred should be updated and moved in time according to the new settings. When moving/changing old meeting that already occurred, there should be an analysis done to make sure moving a meeting won't break anything. Perhaps there are connections from the meeting to sharepoint that needs to be updated, what about any connections to Microsoft Teams? Skype?

As a meeting invitee, I would also like to decline future instances of a recurring meeting without removing the past instances that I attended. As far as I can tell, currently my only option for this is to open each future occurrence and decline it individually...not overly productive when the series is continuing for the next 7 months!

this is seriously frustrating. you should only be able to change future occurences, whats the point of changing previous occurences that have already happened?
PLEAE let us only change future occurences... this is a bizarre decision.

PLEASE make it so I can change a meeting series going forward and not ALL in series. For example, if I meet every Monday at 9am starting 1/1 but in June need to change that meeting to be on Monday at 3pm, or move it to Tuesdays, I do NOT want all of my meetings from 1/1 to June be changed! I want to be able to enter a date or say "as of this date" to make the changes.
Another fix, please, is if I am just adding a room location to an invite of 100 people - I do NOT want to send those 100 people an update email!! Everyone hates this - in gmail you can enter new info and the calendar will reflect the update without sending an email.
PLEASE Fix these!

Please bring back this functionality!!! The loss of this functionality significantly diminishes the functionality of outlook calendar, especially in a business setting. Cancel and modify for future events! Additionally, modifying the entire series overwrites any changes or adjustments invitees have made to the meeting on their own calendar.
