close research pane with keyboard
Research Pane - Positioning the cursor in or adjacent to any word or acronym and pressing Shift+F7 used to bring up the entire Research Pane. If you didn't want the Thesaurus, F6 took you to the pane, where you could tab or Shift+Tab to change your options. Now it only brings up the Thesaurus. Clicking on the drop-down arrow gives you the options to Move, Size, or Close.
Closing the pane was an option on the View menu, also navigable via keyboard. Now it seems to only be clickable. An aggravation for keyboard users, but can you imagine what a nightmare it is for blind people?
Used to be that keyboard shortcuts (the short, 1 to 3 keystroke versions - not talking about the 5 to 7 or 8 keystroke versions, which are better than nothing, but defeat the purpose of being fast) were ported into new versions and OSs. Can that be made true again?
Please restore all previous navigational functionality...and maybe make it mandatory for green coders to learn how to use and implement them? Once they know what timesavers they can be for someone proficient at a keyboard, maybe they will get on board with the concept? Even if not, if they can implement them for those of us who have to use keyboards for physical limitations or just for efficiency, it would be greatly appreciated! :)
To bring up the research pane use
ALT+SHIFT+F7. Does that meet your need?
Thanks Admin, good tip. However, I believe the original ask is interpreted as What is the key combination to close the Research or Thesaurus pane(s)?
