I was planning to manually de-dup the 3800 contacts that my wife has, but >100 have non-ASCII names, and I lose all of that if I replace the existing contents with the improved one.
Can we add a true XLS option for export?
Or do a better job at de-dup?
Over 50% of those contacts are duplicate, and half of the corrections are lost (written to one of several) when updating something like a new cell#

This outlook (2016) needs export in excel options, which would help in categorization/analyze the data. This is a major drawback compare to previous version of outlook (example: 2013).
Do make this option available in future patches.

When export a contact with a line break in the adress-field because the adress ist too long for one line, the export csv has this line break also, so the hole export file is corrupt. Also it happend to us, that some entries (street names) where missing in the CSV, we weren´t able to find the reason for this.

Outlook needs to be able to import CSV contacts with non-English alphabet, e.g. using UTF-8 encoding.

Hello,
I'm using Outlook 2016 for Windows, and i cannot get addresses directly from Excel. In fact we did it Outlook 2010 for Windows.
CSV format is not suitable for the TURKISH LETTERS.
But Excel contains the same Font Encoding. -

Adding contacts already in the people app should be something that can easily be done and doesn't require exporting them and then importing them into Outlook.

CSV previews in Outlook 2016 for Windows result in jumbled mess of rows
The preview should detect the csv data format and show it as a table to make it easier to read (this eliminates the need to open csv files in excel
This functionality already exists in Outlook online, Outlook iOS and Outlook Andriod apps.
It would be nice to have the same experience in the full Outlook 2016 product!

Why did you forsake the Excel-Access-... wizzard that was so handy until Outlook 2010 ? -
